I'm delighted to hear it - this makes it all worth it. Thank YOU! Beauty products, even drugstore ones, already have HUGE profit margins (most of it is marketing costs rather than manufacturing costs anyway), but I'm not going down that rabbit hole for now. It is when retailers become even greedier, and palm off useless, overpriced tat like this on us that I become mad 😂😂

I was so disappointed in this calendar this year as it is usually the best one out of the bunch. Not this year though! I am definitely not getting it. Was also extremely disappointed in Flannels' offering! So far, Selfridges and Sephora UK is winning for me. Thanks for another great review. I really enjoy your view on these and the price breakdowns - puts things in perspective which is exactly what I need.

I usually do some single brand calendars after getting the multis out of the way (I have five filmed and ready to edit, and am filming another five on Sunday). Some singles have particularly been... interesting to film. I even previewed the infamous Chanel advent calendar once 😂

Honestly, thank you for being honest, your review helped me save money. I bought it last year and enjoyed it a lot, this time I almost bought it without looking because I enjoyed it so much last time I assumed it would be great. But what a disappointment! Actually, everyone (yours truly included) kept saying that it showed up as out of stock for the region, that I was beginning to wonder if it actually launched last week, and if they actually HAD any stock! Now we know it was legit. Thanks for letting us know - and I hope you enjoy your YesStyle calendar. Please enjoy the cute packaging a little extra for me (I missed getting it last week, lost my temper, blew my entire budget on 18 multichrome eyeshadows, spent the entire day with a headache, and can't be arsed to lose another minute of sleep)!

@CosmetopiaDigest Aww I know that feeling, perhaps you can get it when it restocks? I know you dont want to have to stay awake though. Maybe it was only stocked for certain regions in that first launch? I was right on the Website when it launched and instantly purchased it, it probably took me less than a minute to checkout. I live in Australia too, so perhaps the stock levels were different here? I hope you enjoy your eyeshadows, I will think of you when I open it and I thank you for your review and letting me know how good it is.

I'm sorry I'm yet to reply to your reply about the Pastel Roses multichromes - advent calendar videos have pretty much taken over my life now 😂😂 You're right; they ARE even nicer than the Pat McG multichromes I've tried - stronger shift, denser formula, and less expensive. I hope you got your second package (and the freebie with each one). They do HUGE sales for Black Friday, Boxing Day and so on, and I'm waiting for that, to get all the (very few) ones that I don't have! Oh - most importantly. No, the song is not my creation! I don't have any talent in that direction haha. It's a parody of the Christmas carol, "O Come All Ye Faithful". It proves how terrible a singer I am that no one recognised the tune 😂😂😂😂

And trust me, if we wanted some singing, we'd be watching GB got talent or something. Thanks, Heba! For me, pillow cases are part of bed linen. Yes, they CAN affect breakouts - so wash them every couple of days! Why are brands including them in advent calendars? I'm hoping that if it doesn't sell out at all, they'll wake up and change things around.

Elle's first advent calendar was quite nice back in the day, with products that weren't too oft-repeated at the time. I quite enjoyed mine. But they fell down the repeat-minis-tat trap as well after that. I wonder what theirs will be like this year.

it got me thinking (not really a serious question but let's try to give them a benefit of a doubt. Again - not really but let's pretend we do). So let's say some Jo(anne) sitting there thinking of what they should include in an AC so that it looks fancy but costs them nothing & they come up with these brilliant ideas of gua sha stones, nail files, clippers, eyelash curlers, satan (haha!) sleep masks & pillows, mirrors & so on & so on. And this Jo(anne) _knows_ what they had in their AC last year & the one before & before. They also know what other beauty companies had in their ACs. All of those things they had, that's what they did, yes. Question I have is do they genuinely believe we use up those products within a year? I have like 10 jade rollers & gua sha stones. I haven't used up (or at all) any of those, what am I doing wrong? Are you peeps there just use those stones within a year? Ok, ok, ok not all at once, I hear ya - you gave some of them to your frieeeends & faaamily. OK, sure. I've got my mom & a few girl friends. What do I do with 7 more gua sha stones? It's not even really a charity item, a homeless person would shove it up my rear if I offered them that. So this Jo(anne) is sitting there thinking yep, that gal out there definitely needs another gua sha stone. And it's not sus at all, she'd be happy & praise my AC & recommend it to all her friends. More so - she'll keep buying my AC next year, yes. Last year my AC wasn't a sellout but there's no conclusion to draw from it - I'll add those in this AC as well, my gal just _needs_ another gua sha stone, right? Wrong. I know, I know, big corporations, they don't care about us, it's just business blah-blah-blah. But I mean we're not dumb. We see the AC content desperately fall into a pit of cr*p each year & when we think there's no pit lower than last year - they offer us a solution - an Avant probably! It wasn't a sellout last year already, and people didn't buy cr*p even at discount. If those companies need money, they do need to up their game. What I see now just makes me not buy any ACs this year (well, I'm still eyeing 1-2 in the UK but they don't deliver to the NL so that's a shame) & just spend money during the year on things I've tried during previous years & I saw they were good. What a joke with ACs this year. I'm really on a mental strike with slogans & loud speakers. In my head we're all protesting in front of their HQ & winning a good AC. Alas, just in my head now.

TBH, it is the blind-buyers whom brands are banking on, for sales. The curations have become so poor that only blind buyers - or those who don't know much about beauty, but want to gift these to colleagues/friends/family/partners - are buying. A very sad state of affairs, and only the retailers are to blame for the poor curations. I'm so glad you found it helpful from the comments here, and decided not to buy!

I admit, I haven't watched any unboxing after hearing a particular RU-vidr (controversial for her own advent calendar which apparently included products from other boxes that she had got in PR) squealing SO loudly over an Eyeko or something, it probably ruptured my tympanum. I'm yet to recover from the mental trauma 😂😂 Oh yeah, I had also watched a Chanel unboxing where the person said that poor people who didn't understand luxury wouldn't appreciate the calendar. I'm happy here in my "peasantedness" without the £1,000 box with paperclips, stickers, and a mini drawstring washbag, thanks 😂😂😂😂

Actually, I love the snark in your videos even though I bought this calendar - you are so right that the squealing in other unboxings gets annoying. A robust critique is certainly going to help people choose which one they want. I’m trying to figure out your accent - is it Eastern Europe?

Hey Renu, good vid - liking your honesty & thanks for the breakdown on these beauty calendars 🙏🏼 & for giving me a laugh (you’re actually saving me £s because I totally agree with you, I’m a bit shocked at the price increases every year for a bunch of literal miniatures, repeats (aka non exciting) & often tat! (tweezers & the like lol). 😅 Love all things beauty so saved up & bought Space NK, JL & Liberty in the past… just wondering what would be value for money this year, especially with the cost of living …. Btw to anyone saying negative things: “Mature people never make difference of opinion a means of conflict” so literally, let’s be kind folks! 😊

I think the Boots one is good value - not a HUGE, forbidding price tag, a rather different pool of products, enough value in the full sizes. It could have been better, even realistically with the profit margins that companies want to make - but it is the pick of the lot for me. Actually, if you look at the other calendars, THEY contain similar items... but are priced super high! Which is my problem with them. ETA: Completely saving that last sentence to Notes. Will bring it up whenever it's needed. Thank you so much xx

Love your honest videos - Informative, enjoyable and refreshingly humorous! Actually enjoyed your singing, it was spot on, too! Regarding advent calendars, I really dislike when they take a curated calendar and start filling it with many items from their own brand of products. This year Sephora's calendar in the U.S. features only Sephora brand products...a let down from last years curated calendar of different brands to try out. And, this year Rituals will only be reselling last years classic (not premium) 3D tree calendar in the U.S. The 2023 choice of 3 villages will be unavailable to Americans this year. Wouldn't be so bad if they discounted the price of last years calendar since its a year old. Maybe its a supply and demand issue - who knows. At this point, I've crossed them off my list, so I really don't care!

I'm so sorry to hear that. I think calendars in the US aren't... quite there yet. Which is weird - because, a few years ago, my Dad got me the QVC advent calendar from the US. 2015 or 2016, I think (or 2017?); I still have the maroon box with metal clasp closure - anyway, I quite enjoyed the calendar; there were some very different brands such as Josie Maran and Peter Thomas Roth, which you don't usually see in UK-based calendars. Or, maybe, as is the case of UK calendars these days, the quality of the US ones also went down from 2016 or so?

Oh, you'll be surprised! I just got rid of (blocked! Not OFFED or anything; just reported to RU-vid, who blocked them) some weirdo who kept calling me shouty and angry. Hey, I do this for a lark - if my acting up over Bader makes you lot laugh, I'm pleased! We could all use more laughter in this world right now!

Enjoying watching your advent calendar reviews again! I’ve been buying calendars for years but have decided to wait & buy them when/if they go on sale. Last year the market was flooded & I ended up buying some full price then some dramatically reduced. Got a few of flannels ones for £119 instead of £225 tho 🎉

Yes, practically everything ended up being discounted last year! I expect Flannels to be discounted eventually this year as well. Let's hope brands begin to wonder why, and start offering us good value - wishful thinking!

I'm loving the eye look you have going on here... what multi chrome are you using? It's incredible💄 I've got the liberty's advent calendar ordered as I have saved up as part of their beauty drop... after seeing this year's calendar, I had decided to cancel the beauty drop but then was sent an email letting me know that they're now stocking Lisa Eldridge's line,.. so maybe I'll hold out for another year... I ended up with three calendars last year.., I got the liberty's for myself, then got the cohorted for my daughter and then my daughter and I decided to purchase the Flannels between us when it went on sale with 50% discount... the cohorted and Flannels were the best calendars by far last year, and I'm excited to see what they have to offer this year.... I love how angry you get with the tatt they put in to bulk up these calendars. I would love it if they put in a really good eyelash curler because I can't bring myself to pay for the shiseido or surrat but who wants another throw away one... Those of us who are interested in buying these calendars is interested in beauty and has probably gone down the subscription box route for a little while at least, and we've all had plenty of Gua Sha, jade rollers and sleep masks... how many do they think we need??? Keep up the great work you do, snarking your way through these calendars.. I'll join you as you sing to Bader and Dr B.S....

The Pastel Roses Dreamland! I have done an intro video on the brand a couple of months ago, and will do a detailed swatch-a-thon (I have quite a few of their eyeshadows, as you can see from my intro video - so a full video will take a while). I want more this Black Friday 😂😂 But I also want to buy my first Clionadhs - I would rather have fun playing with their gorgeous multichromes than waste my money on tatty advent calendars with all the repeats. Top spoiler: I'm singing again this year - stay tuned for my Flannels preview, maybe early next week.

Some people have to much time on their hands! If you don’t like a video click off and move on! I’ve bought the cult beauty advent every year, mainly because when the first one came out I was being treated for a postpartum psychosis and it always stuck out from that time as something that I found a joy in, stupid reason I know but I guess nostalgia of a better point in the middle of something hard. This one is incredibly disappointing and part of me wants to still get it but I’m tempted to look at others. It’s a shame considering how much it is and how good they started out

I quite liked the first one as well, and it brought me joy. But this year's is very meh! Similarly, I feel their gifts with purchase haven't been as fabulous as they were in the past as well. A real pity. I treated myself to some multichromes on Tuesday (they were on sale), and I plan on making a calendar out of them, so I have a new one to swatch each day. I hope you're doing well, and that you can find another calendar that brings you joy this year xx

If I could get it for €130 or so it would be worth it for me, as I've been wanting to try two products for awhile, and that's a bit over how much they cost on Cult Beauty with discounts. But there's so much that I wouldy use or like it's not worth it for the price they are selling it.

That is a very fair price for this advent calendar, IMO! Even so, it is more than those products you want would cost with a code. It's definitely not worth this ginormous price tag they've got on, and I'm sure it won't sell out, so they'll HAVE to include some offers or codes for it.

ALL my eye masks and gua shas are still very much pristine as well 😂😂 I have one jade roller that I used a couple of times, a broken one (long story), and then I gave away two. I think we might be able to do a gua sha and jade roller advent calendar soon!

Hi lovely, as a beauty influencer I am here for the honesty and your opinion just like I review good or bad on my Instagram, I am most definitely not purchasing this one as it’s just the same old repeats and the cult beauty own mirror etc I’m not interested in either 😂 as I say hun I’m like marmite ypu either love me or hate me 🤷‍♀️ keep being you as I love you! Thanks so much! I mean, a pocket mirror isn't the most exciting product out there... nor is a pillowcase. I don't see this selling out, unless there are lots of blind buyers, or people who aren't into beauty buying it to gift to a partner or friend.

So underwhelmed. Loved 2022's. TBH I haven't been impressed with any of the calendars so far. M&S looks OK but will probably buy myself 6 months of TOYL boxes instead. Bet there won't be a pillowcase in sight.

I was going to buy this as I do every year, but I think you have convinced me not to! I use tret, so none of the retinol products excite me… can’t use vitamin C since the V and still have unopened eyecreams from last year. Already own 4 Roen quads and the saie glowy potion… the only one thing that excites me is the blush stick … will buy one of those on Black Friday 😂

In 2016 and 2017, I bought eight beauty advent calendars AND had two or three beauty box subscriptions. Now? I struggle to find ONE calendar, and have no subscriptions. Very telling.

Omg what happened to Cult Beauty, last year I bought their calendar + I got a free goodie bag with such nice products in it and this year I think it's a disaster. I would buy it only if I got a huge discount. Btw. they gave us sleep mask last year! really ...again??? Only Satan pillow case makes me want this calendar hahahah 🤣🙃🤟

I think they've gone a bit downhill after the Hut Group takeover really set in. They seem to be sending out utter tat - did you see their recent skincare booster edit? That was insanity, though it was great fun to diss here. They think we use a new sleep mask each month 😂😂

Gosh, thank you! I wish! But then I faint at the sight of blood haha (and am too squeamish). But no, I began my career in teaching, moved to journalism, and then to corporate communications. All within the span of a decade 😂
