This video was such a good idea! I was nodding my head along to all your choices. They’re all significant scents with their own characters and all iconic.
Regarding Chanel I go for Coco Noir. It is like coco mademoiselle but less common and more sofisticated. Also a big fan or Angel here! It is a classic, it changed the fragrance landscape when it was released, such a masterpiece. Alien I wear in small dosis, otherwise it gets too much for me. My choice of NR is Pure Musk, it smells sofisticated and expensive. Dior Homme Parfum is one of my favorites as well. Best designer perfume ever, despite marketed towards men to me it is unisex and I believe confident women can pull it off.
thank you for another lovely video, I have all of these apart from Classique (which I have on my buy list), and Shalimar, which translates into a smoky lemon on my skin. you make me want to dig through my box of perfumes and reshop all the perfumes I’ve had forever and have not smelled for a while. This also makes me excited for my fall/winter rotation, because a lot of these are in that rotation.
I was about to give away my Shalimar coz im just failing to understand it,but the CEO of fragrance has spoken.ITS A KEEPER.will wear it until i love it.
I wore Chanel #5 for about 25 years- exclusively! So it is wearable to me.. But to br honest I haven’t been wearing it since I have become fragrance obsessed 😍
The only one I don’t agree with is Flowerbomb..it is a cult favorite but it is sooooo weak omg! Reformulation has killed this scent. Have you tried a recent formulation?
@@jusderose okay. Interesting. Maybe it’s a skin chemistry thing or better yet i will try it again without trying a million other fragrances and take note on the performance. Thanks 😊
Hey I'm new to your channel and I really like most of the fragrances in your presentation. I'm happy that I found you, you are very well informed as you were at a perfume school and I'm looking forward to your next video.
This was a great walk down memory lane for me, I'll have to wear some of these again! Hey! We are doing a Women Of Fragcomm collaboration video if you want to participate. All of the details are on my community page.
I’ve heard reviews Alien by Mugler got reformulated due to acquisition by L’Oréal and that now it’s not so great and smell is completely different and soapy. Is this true?
I haven’t noticed this no. With the recent acquisition it would take considerable time to get rid of the “old” stock and replace with the “new” and depends on where you are in the world, which store you’re in and how quickly the product sells through. Bare in mind acquisitions doesn’t always mean reformulations 😀
i got a bottle a month ago. I like intoxicating perfumes, I also like jasmin so I had really high hopes for Alien. Let me just tell you that I´m currently using it to spray my drawers... It has zero personality, good or bad. Smell nice soap. Zero longevity. There are more inspired Zara perfumes. Hell even not so good perfumes are good enough to an errand to the super market, not this batch... A big waste of money. Huge disappointment.
@@jusderose they were recently suddenly out of stock of Alien in all major retailers (Mexico) for a few weeks. So I guess they are replacing the batch sadly
I must be the only on here that don’t like the first one. It smell like a cheat grape candy. I don’t see the hype. My 15 year old don’t like it either. Is it the dry down people seem to like?
I like most of your videos, but you are talking about the same perfumes that are pretty boring. There are so many brands that are not talked about enough. I’m really sick of Mugler.. What is about Trussardi le vie Milano 6 fragrances?? Would be interesting to hear your opinion Rubens, antiqua Firenze, and many many more!! I’m interested in hearing your speech about something different because I’m a niche perfume collector myself
Hi Diana, this video is about iconic designer fragrances worth investing in, so naturally it will include popular fragrances which are talked about and giving you my take on these. I’m more of a niche girl too but when thinking about designer scents (and those that have helped shape the fragrance industry) these fragrances come to mind and which are the ones that I would personally invest in even with a preference for niche perfumes. Hope that makes sense!
@@jusderose But there are so many videos about designer fragrances. And everyone is talking about Mugler. When I hear a Mugler, I immediately turn off the video. These scents are boring and everyone can get acquainted with them in any perfume hall. Why do we need to talk about something that is said a lot in every video?? You have great videos and you are interesting to listen to,but niche brands are much more interesting, modern and worthy. I don't want to offend you in any way but I always expect something new and interesting from you
@@jusderose I understand that not many people can afford niche and expensive fragrances but you have a different category of subscribers. Many people write you compliments and this is great, but few people write about what you are talking about. I do not argue with you and hope to remain your subscriber for a long time.
It would be too sad to limit ourselves to only Niche or only Designers because there are so many great fragrances out there in all categories. Also the price has not necessarily something to do (fortunately /unfortunately) with the quality of a fragrance. 😉
Thank you Josephine, FINALLY someone correctly acknowledging the sexiness and date-night appropriateness of Narciso Rodriguez! Everyone on RU-vid seems to list this as a perfect office fragrance. I realize fragrance is personal and subjective but I think this scent is too hot and interesting to wear to work. On another matter, you asked in a another video if we’d like you to discuss new/recent releases, YES PLEASE!
Have to agree! Everyone around me who is a close friend says it is a beast-in-the-bed scent, totally animalistic and nothing I want to wear when I am talking to my boss
JPG Classique...so many memories! I bought a bottle in 1997 when I was 16, in Paris on an exchange, in Sephora before Sephora went worldwide (and when they handed out a ton of samples with purchase). I fell in love with the bottle and the scent. My mom still had the bottle with a bit of juice in it. 💗
Hello Josephine! I would like to drop a suggestion... I would love to see you explaining on how to wear a parfum properly. Because it seems that not many people out there actually know how to use, or even distinguish between EDC, EDP and Parfum. Do you think it's a good idea? Create a Parfum etiquette video for us please! Cheers from Lisbon, Portugal *
As a man, I absolutely love Coco Mademoiselle. Something about it just entrances me, the sweet light airy florals are super elegant and classy. I almost wanna get a bottle just to smell it and admire its beauty 🩷
J'Adore is the winner. I already own 10 different and unique fragrances. Many of them you recommended (thank you). And J'Adore still remains at number 1. It's what I wear when I can't decide. Creamy, classy, sensual, cozy, stunning. I would wear it all day, every day, all year round. So, if I could choose to keep only one - it would be J'Adore.
I've always been an old soul but Guerlain Shalimar (and in particular the EDP) has always done something special to me. Separated the women from the girls! Habit Rouge (again the EDP for me) is the more masculine counterpart and massively slept on by most men swept up in the marketing/Jeremy hype train. Love love love Guerlain!
Chanel formulations for ALL their fragrances have utterly and completely changed . My first bottle of #19 and #5 was in in 1985 and let me tell you ! you wouldnt recognize it from what you're smelling now. So sad. The richness, depth all gone. Mostly alcohol on the nose now
Thank you. The million dollar question isn’t it? Many factors come into play that sometimes brands can’t control e.g. if they use a certain type of natural ingredient those vary in smell from year to year depending on the yield, climatic conditions, availability etc.., tighter regulations on certain materials e.g. natural oak moss has been banned in formulations so has been replaced with synthetic alternatives and the list can go on. Now of course there is of course the possibility of brands wanting to lower their costs of goods but to be honest what costs the most (contrary to popular belief) is the packaging not the juice!
@@jusderose 😱😱 this is so informative! I always thought otherwise. Them being cheap 🙈or when purchased by a bigger conglomerate they couldn’t keep the original formula. Never really thought about that in all honesty. Maybe you should make a video on the misconceptions of reformulations??
Alien - Mugler Si - Giorgio Armani Coco Mademoiselle - Chanel Chloe EDP Flower Bomb - Viktor and Rolf Narciso Rodriguez for Her Classique - Jean Paul Gaultier Shalimar - Guerlain J'adore - Dior Eau Des Merveilles - Hermes
Hi Josephine! I really like how you recommend perfumes by categorising them into designer or for ladies/gents etc. I was hoping if there would be more brand-focused videos in the future as well? I really liked your guide on Diptyque and was hoping for you to do more of that for other brands too! It really gives more insight to the types of perfumes the brand generally has and it’s easier to pick a fragrance in my opinion. Thanks for the update! ☺️
Yes of course! I’ve been meaning to do a Kilian and Frederic Malle buying guide. I’m just waiting for stores to reopen so I can go out and smell all the fragrances/get samples 😊
I have owned V&R flowerbomb and hated it. It was too sweet & headache inducing. Alien by mugler is obnoxious to me. It's interesting how scent preferences are so unique to individuals. I have yet to find a designer or niche frangrance I love.
What an outstanding choice of fragrances! I loove most of them. All of them have been grounbreaking at some point. I recall Flowerbomb as the first sweet perfume when all others were flowery. Narciso on the other hand was so linear, only one ingredient (musc), but it was so well done! I wore Eau des Merveilles in winter in Barcelona and in sun and crispy air at the seaside it was magic. You brought so many good memories to me.
Hello Josephine how are you doing beautiful! Thank you so much for this video. Kudos for another job well done. Excellent perfume brands you put together for us your RU-vid tribe. For your next video, could you perhaps mention or write down if it’s and edp or edt version of the perfume you talked about? Would really appreciate it. ❤️😘💐
Anyone tried both the NR For Her EDT like in the video and the NR EDT black cube (clear cap) ? What's the difference? I only have the black cube and the musk is too sharp for me 😢
I fell in love with Shalimar ages ago when I saw it in a mall and had a spray on my wrist where my watch is. It's crazy that is stays on my watch bracelet over a week and I kept on smelling it. 🤣 I also had a bottle of Classique JPG which I also love so much, I overly used. I still love both up to date, looking forward on buying new bottles of these 2 gorgeous scent!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️
@@jusderose but it is like once you smelled the niche you just know what the good juice is like. I am in considerstion of getting Fragrance Du Bois - oud Jaune Intense and waiting on MFK - Gentle fluidity Gold 😊 in your video for Du Bois were you having the 15ml bottles?
Your vids are a blast 💥 I have so much fun watching and listening!!! True confessions I have about 60 or 70 fragrances in my collection too! I’m so glad that someone else has this obsession 😘I worked for the cosmetic industry for a long time as a Makeup 💄 Artist 🧑🎨 for YSL , Shisiedo, Chanel, and Lauder . It’s a lot of fun 🎉
Can you suggest a perfume for my daughter? She is 14....something clean and nice...she is wearing miu miu eau Bleu.. But now she would like something a little bit smoother and warmer.... Any idea? Great video and.. You are really beautiful.. Thank you!
I tried some of them the other day actually! I did like a few but haven’t been able to test them other than on the blotter. The characteristic leather signature is nice and there are some freshies worth attention too.
That’s so funny because Shalimar is the grandma fragrance to me and Chanel 5 is such a classic and one I love. I was so disappointed to see it recently reformulated. People like to call it old, but I would get such random compliments on it with strangers mesmerized by it. They were shocked when I said the name. I own shalimar because I love violet, but I would never wear it in public!
