I always imagined the cult of Sotek to be like the sloths from Ice Age when they copied the sloth main character and tried to sacrifice him Cough Cough .... you know what I want Tar
Imagine being a Legendary Lord whose whole thing is he makes Minotaurs shittier, when one of the only viable strategies for Beastmen outside of multiplayer is Minotaur spam.
@@SeruraRenge11 Not to mention his biggest advantage, quick respawn, is pretty much useless except in late game when you have tons of growth to throw around
There's an Invocation of Sotek change mod (called Manifestation of Sotek) where it makes an actual unit that you can get from the unique landmark in, I think, The Fuming Serpent (the other settlement in the province that has the Star Tower). You can only get one and it's very expensive but incredibly powerful. Deals poison, massive dmg, good stats all around, pretty sure it has some nice resistances, and super hard to hit with projectiles. Costs a dread saurian and a half and takes like 3-4 turns to recruit but by the Old Ones, it's strong.
@@amphitheremajesticon4928 Also Better sacrifice mod too. Allow you to use IoS 3 times per battle.....which is very powerful. Still tho , wonky hit box also screw me many times.
Skaven on release were terribad. Then one of CA's lads went on a lore dive one bathroom break. Now we have Skaven toting the most unique mechanics of any other race lol
It was a rather amusing 5-7 seconds of animated gummy worm, followed by a massive hype deflation and the feeling best described as *"Wait, that's it?"*
“Screw this I’m joining Nakai’s crew at least they have sick ass rewards for doing the religious stuff” -some random cold blood after watching the invocation
According to the infinite universes theory there exists a parallel universe where he is sacrificed in every possible manner by any one of his adversaries (and allies).
This reminds me of an episode of The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy where a cult of kids put a lot of effort to summon a legendary giant snake know to defend nerds from bullies and succeed in the ritual, only to discover it is only like an inch long and promtly skitters back through the portal.
What you couldn't see was the fact that all of Teeny Weeny's armies were at zero upkeep because the actual op thing cult of sotek has are those followers you get from sacrifices.
As much of a disappointment the invocation of Sotek is. I still really enjoy Tehenhauin's campaign. Nothing like the feeling of launching a crusade against the ratmen
Yeah, as a whole his campaign is a little disappointing, but his army's paint scheme is bad ass. Sounds sad, but it really was my favorite thing about it.
But they could have at least let you use it more than just once in a battle. I mean, you can just recruit a battery of solar engine stegs and get approximately the same result several times by paying just once.
Ah, Lizardmen. Such an interesting piece of lore. So interesting that everyone keeps forgetting about them and they get left in the dust behind every other race and faction.
You commit a mass sacrifice to cast the Invocation of Sotek. I commit a mass sacrifice to slay thousands of filthy rat men in the name of mighty Sotek. We are not the same.
I was playing Chaos earlier today on turn 207 and found a beastman horde! I didnt believe it at first but they survived to 207 on legendary. But i had ro set things right so they didnt live to turn 208.
If you delve into the stats, the Invocation of Sotek ability appears strong on paper, it can one-shot single entities. However, the execution shows how bad it is, though it appears to be a wind spell, it actually puts a single explosion on the place where Sotek's head dives into the ground. That explosion can one-shot single entities but as everyone has pointed out, how the hell are you supposed to aim it?
I could think of a few ways to improve sotek - some solar engine rays, snake units with glow sticks and some new music - basically a sotek party that will bring more skink followers
Ikit is smiling because he already won the popularity contest long before it even started. Ikit Claw: Lizard-thing got the short end of the stick-pole? Yes-yes?
When I saw the gummy magic for the first time I was struck with the question "where it going?" I just thought it was a summoning spell for what ever reason.
The fact that Morghur is constantly murdered for various reasons is both hilarious and depressing. Hilarious for me and depressing for him that is. Now if you excuse me *cue Skarsnik laughing*
Let's not forget the fantastic snake summoning dino that came with this faction. Must be most used unit of the Lizardmen, period. Ancient stegadon you say? Pff, ain't got nothing on snake-cage-Nick
meanwhile: *has free structure cost from tons of miner followers in every army, 2 25% ward save banners for lord and hero and 3 +20AP/+20%Damage banners in every army*
Starting a race war between all Skaven and Lizardmen to then find out that this is all that Sotek can send on this mortal plane makes the old ones saying true: Sotek's only a fringe god.
Although the Invocation of Sotek is not it we are witnessing perfection here this day my friends for the Invocation of Tarriff has been performed and another glorious video is upon us!
Honestly wish that they would maybe update that ability in game but I mean I understand why they wouldn't....it would take away from the glory of clan Skyre and Ikit Claw
You finally can cast a God in Warhammer ande the resulta is just an Animation of a spell and IT dosent do a Lot of damage is just a Show of sparky colors. ALSO HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF THE ACOLITES OF TARRIFF.
The Cult of Sotek sacrificial mechanic was like an embarrassing alpha version of Ikkit Claw's lab. Instead of suped-up versions of units you already have and awesome, devastating campaign powers, you get all your normal RoRs locked behind a grindwall and a wet fart of a battle ability. And the fact that you can eventually summon Lord Kroak just feels like an insult when Itza is _right_ _next_ _door_ and gets him for free right from the start. The highest compliment I can give the Cult of Sotek as a faction is that they have a legendary lord that I can acquire through confederacy. That's it.
