Don't forget that the design for the librarian dread was made by magnus the red and the reason why the bloodangels use them is because magnus gave sanguinius the stc. Sanguinius was one of the only primarchs that was nice to Magnus
The Orks actually do have a solid equivalent to the Dreadnought which is the Deff Dread. Main difference is that Orks can 100% volunteer for the process even if they’re still healthy.
Another funny part about them is that the Ork's bloodlust is amped to 11 in a Deff Dread, so they have to be shut off in between battles so they don't fuck up all the Orks around them when they're bored.
If you want to get rid of flies just let a few spiders nest on your room ceiling. They get rid of most of the insects that make it into the room. Though given that you live in Australia the spider might also decide to get rid of you.
Huntsman spiders the size of your hand are great room cleaners - make no web so they're pretty mobile so be wary of that, not just one corner for your friend

Swinging two-handed, the glint of half-light briefly limning a hammers head, the figure split apart the sarcophagus. Concerning flies, take a blue bowl (the color is for attraction, 3 times higher than yellow) fill it with water, add some soap to alter the surface tension so they drown. Even add something with a minor odor and behold the fly magnet, put these bowls next to every window and they will be exterminated!
The Sisters of Battle have the Mortifiers, but unlike the Space Marine/Grey Knights/Custodes Dreadnoughts, the Mortifiers are reserved for Battle Sisters that have committed a most grievous sin, far more heretical than what is required to become a Repentia. They’re put inside the Mortifier to fight for the Emperor whilst they endlessly scream in pain and anguish from the Iron Maiden-like environment within the sarcophagus.
@@TheTrueFeleas The Anchorite is the better one because the pilot is in an iron maiden instead of being exposed. Since tech is more valuable than meatsacks, it is a waste to use the mecha for suicidal charge.

There was once a Tau who was seriously wounded in a battle while he was in his battlesuit, and since then he cannot take that battlesuit off. The battlesuit is the only thing that keeps him alive. So Tau have one real Dreadnought. that feeling when you want to correct a typo and delete the entire comment
the names bravestorm and he is a fkn badass. He got wounded by surviving a barrage from imperial titans (obviously aimed not directly at him but his general direction)
Wouldnt getting entered into a dreadnought be one of the Iron Hands greatest of achievements? Seeing as how the flesh is weak and all, the dreadnought should be seen as a pretty severe mechanical upgrade!
Not really. It's about upgrading. The Dreadnaught is not doing anything to the body. There is a container in the Dreadnaught, that keeps the Space Marine alive. It's like an extension. Similar, but not really upgrading. It's like being the pilot of the Titan. AdMech, but not really.
back when there were non-optional rules for creating your own chapter, a friend and I created "The Cauldron Born" they were obsessed with Dreadies. They fielded zero standard marines. They used scout marine assault squads for all basic troops and ran Dreadies for both Elite and Heavy choices. They'd have had Dready Captains if it was rules legal, so instead they always fielded Terminator-armored Captains. We planned on kit-bashing some airspeeders, into "Dread-speeders" same rules but piloted by a entombed marine instead of the standard pilots, so we could field Dreadies as fast attack too.

Part of my dislike for Primaris dreadnaughts was for as you said, when released their lore was that they drained life from inhabitants and would require new occupants rather than preservation of knowledge and power.
Agreed. I actually refuse to use them in my Dark Angels army because I thought the idea of them locking their brothers into a torture to death machine would hit a little too close to home.

I'm currently reading the Ravenor books and at one point they come up against a Dreadnought. I'm thinking at this point that they're pretty screwed, but they chuck a couple of grenades and kill it. WTF?
@@Keram-io8hv Yeah, it's the short story where they meet Eisenhorn. Now you mention it I think he might have finished it off with his magic Carthean blade which sounds suspiciously like a demon sword, but initially they crack it open with a couple of grenades, and I think the first one doesn't connect very well. The Eisenhorn and Revenor books contradict each other (and general lore) quite a bit I find. Eisenhorn makes a big deal about having untouchables and how they're needed stop Psyker abilities, but Ravenor has an untouchable who wears a device that can disable his untouchable qualities. People also wear psy blockers, which are basically portable untouchables. The technology in the Ravenor books effectively makes untouchables a bit pointless.
9:23 I would have brought up that dead Tau have had their memories and personalities uploaded and made into an AI that lives in an unmanned battlesuit. Farsight's closest broski was one of those.
LOL I didn't know that and here I played an entire campaign based on the idea that the Tau reverse engineered dreadnoughts to put a Celestial in a Tau Titan made from scratch, that was a FUN campaign :P
Majorkill why orbital bombardment is not used as much as logic would suggest? Like in the siege of Vraks the enemy had no fleet, so it would be an easy picking from space. Of course the real answer is that we would not have cool fights otherwise, but does the lore justify this somehow?
A lot of planet-side cities and fortifications will have their own void shields, so in some cases can just withstand orbital bombardment. Strategically, the Imperium likely wants to keep cities and infrastructure intact where possible, otherwise you’re left with rubble that is of no further use. Just a couple reasons I could think of there, there’s likely more
I described the tactical dreadnought as an armed mini fridge once to my buds, so I'm guessing the regular dreadnought could be described as a whole deep freezer with an armoury built in.

Who doesn't like hulking, stompy robot suits? I was first introduced to the concept in 1995 with Mechwarrior 2: 31st Century Combat. Then when I picked up Dawn of War 1, my first notable exposure to Warhammer 40k, I saw these guys and thought I'd give them a try, made one and decided that I wanted nothing but them and assault marines. 2005 was a simpler time.

Just a little add on. If you read the novel "The Unforgiven", there is a part which describes how a mortally wounded Space Marine is interred into a Dreadnought. Putting a long story short, it is a fate worse than death for the interred. Implanting the neural connectors to the brain of the Space Marine can actually kill him from literal shock. This is the crucial component that allows the wounded Space Marine to operate the Dreadnought like it was his own body, and even with super-painkillers available, the process can still be fatal if there was a botch or if the Space Marine is not mentally resolute enough to endure the pain. This may explain why chapters do not inter just any run-of-the-mill Battle Brother into a Dreadnought. Typically, you have to be at least a former Veteran Sergeant to get the "honors" of being interred.

The image of a dreadnought seperated from his battle brothers and is now leading a group of civilians to safety mama duck style, has been permanently engraved in my memory and has been living rent free in my head and wont leave until its been made manifest.
Only old and battle hardened astartes with great knowledge and experience can be interred in a dreadnought sarcophagus. Why waste the hundreds of years of know-how? Awesome idea!
Bjorn holding up to Magnus threw me of a bit when I read the book though. Venerable Dreadnough mighty and stuff, I get it but... against a chaos Primarch... come on. If I remember right, Magnus was already worn out by battle at this point, but still...
Orks have Deff Dreads, which are like Dreadnoughts but the ork is still alive inside. Some Orks volunteer for the process thinking it’s a quick way for them to get stronger. Only to later find out they can’t leave. Some Tau mechs are actually piloted by the AI consciousness of dead Tau.
The closest the Tau have gotten to having a Dreadnought is Commander Bravestorm. He was nearly killed while fighting Imperial forces and is now permanently hooked up to life supports within his Crisis suit. There's also Ob'Lotai 9-0, but he's actually an AI copied from the original mind of Farsight's old battlesuit teacher who controls a Broadside, then just downloads himself into a drone if a situation gets dicey.
You could make another video with more details about xeno dreadnoughts variants. The ork ones are really interesting. They have versions for gretchins called a killa kan and versions for orks called Deff Dreads. A Killa Kan is like putting Timmy into a deadly machine and then watching him try to burn Major kill alive
Would be a good video to see who you’d cast in a Horus heresy film or series. Who would you pick to play the emperor, Valdor, Malcador and the Primarchs. In an ideal world obviously.
Dreadnoughts sound like the practical jokers of a chapter. Seriously hiding in a mountain of gene stealer corpses. Or playing hide and seek with freaking Dark Eldar like what the actual fuck.
@Majorkill Question: Is the necron weapon-lore-naming outdated crap? What irritated me for years now; The Necron weapons are Gauss weapons. I know gauss only as the russian variant of a rail gun, using a spiral for magnetic acceleration instead of tracks. The visuals of these weapons however looking like laser beams with lighting (ghostbusters proton beams) and last, when hitting they are not mass impacting, nighter melting by heat, but disintegrating on a molecular level like extreme acid or more likey nanobots. So what are they? What are the common outdated or misinterpreted weapons in 40k?
The idea of dreadnought goes back to the unity of terra. They put regular humans in some kind of the proto. Lol. Sagittarius was put in a dready. Pretty badass dude.
I'm listening to gaunts ghost currently and McKoll manages to kill a blind dreadnaught with the help of some plants and on another occasion they only need a powersword and 5 flamers to kill a dreadnaught.
Tau battlesuits don't count because unlike Imperials, Tau soldiers have good social security and if they get injured they have great surgeons. But seriously though, there's Farsight's friend and personal mechanic who's like 400 years old (Tau normally only live to 50-60) and he's only kept alive by life supports he created for himself, it's implied he can't leave his battlesuit so there you go, Tau dreadnought. Also I dont remember if he's in the broadside or the Riptide.
I love these more in depth looks at specific things, would be cool if other factions could get things highlighted, like specific wars and events, however I get if there isn’t much info because GW uses the imperium and space marines to tell the story.
