That was great! You can hear me playing this tune with the great old time fiddler , Eldia Barbee, at my RU-vid site on a field recording from 1978 or so. If you'd been there, he'd have me playing guitar ... if he'd let me play at all! - Ron
@sazji The tuning seems to be F# D# G# C# D#, which I think is standard sawmill tuning raised by 1.5 steps and with the 1st string lowered 1 step. I've never played in it before now, and it's actually a lot of fun. The sawmill tunes I know like Kitchen Girl (Cathy Fink has a fantastic duet version of this on youtube) and Cluck Old Hen sound great with the 1st string tuned down to the dominant 7th!
you do this so easily, its great i actually play the banjo for 3 weeks, it takes a while to be as good as you banjo grettings from germany (sry for the bad english)
Hi Cathy! Great playing. Do you think you could shoot me a photo of the doughnut up close? I swear that's the same tone ring that I have in an old Bacon pot. I thought it was for the Bacon internal resonator set up, less the internal resonator itself. I just don't know!?!?! Always most sincerely yours, David Loudenback
