Following on from last weeks rowing up video is Carlisle based contractor Nelson of the Floshes, Durdar forage harvesting team. Chopping the grass is a brand new for this season Claas Jaguar 960 50th Anniversary forager.
The trailer team includes a Case-IH Puma 150 and silver Valtra T174 and metallic grey T195 (always difficult to see the model numbers on Valtras but I managed to get close enough to see) pulling Stewart & Herron silage trailers. Also running by on the road is a MF 6465 and Claas tedder (blink and you’ll miss it!) while at the pit is a Case-IH Puma 175 CVX and Albutt buckrake.
Plenty of silage videos to come in the following weeks as I’ve been out filming these last few days but as I speak the weather has turned damp and cold again so it’ll give me a chance to edit them!
Filmed in Cumbria, May 2024

Thanks Alan. I can imagine they’ll be out and about all over the place this week, it’s sunny today but been very windy and some heavy showers in these parts recently! Cheers, David.

Very nice video David, always good to see Nelsons at work, they've always got incredibly smart kit. I'm a big fan of the Stewart trailers.

Alright Des, good to hear from you. I’m good, how’s yyour fettle yourself? Yes he wasn’t hanging about but I guess they had a really busy day ahead as they were off to another farm after this one. It was a nice setup and a great setting it was working in too. Cheers, Dave.

Good afternoon David, hope your well and thanks for my weekly farming fix. Nice to see the Claas Jaguar 960 and whilst it was doing a great job, he certainly was not sparing the horses, but that's usually the situation with contractors, as time is money. Weirdly, just as I am writing this, my neighbour has just passed by with his two Jaguars. Was great to see the rest of the team too and in particular the Stewart trailers which are made about 48 miles from me, and are probably the most commonly used trailer up this way and get a great reputation. Don't really know much about the Valtra, but we have a few about here now as the local MF Dealer changed a few years ago to Valtra. Interesting that they decided to not just stick with one common colour for the brand, but when the breakdown (which all brands do at some point) colour will be your last thought except when its someone else's machine. Thanks as always David. Cheers, Fraser

And a good afternoon/ evening to you too Fraser. I’m very well thanks, had this past week off work and got out a couple of times but it’s not very summery weather up here, very cold for the time of year. Yes the Claas was clocking on alright as you say and with the next customer waiting time is definitely money! Two Jaguars, someone’s busy! Yes well organised and colourful team and the Stewart trailers are very popular round here too, very well built equipment. Quite a few Valtras up in this neck of the woods as I think there are a couple of dealers and yes a choice of colours but when there’s a breakdown it’s more likely to be colourful choice of language whatever the brand no matter who owns it! The pleasures mine Fraser, quite a few videos to follow in the next few weeks! Cheers, David.

@@davidwinthrop7077 Hope you enjoyed your week off and yeah weather has been poor here too David and even had snow in the Cairngorms yesterday! You are so correct about colourful language when those breakdowns occur, not that I was ever like that 😂. Enjoy your weekend and Thanks. Fraser

Felt like he was pushing the chopper a bit too hard

You’re probably right Stewart as it was clocking on a bit. Possibly as it was new (don’t know if you still run things in now) and seeing what it was capable of or maybe because they had a busy day ahead as I know they had another farm to go to and the weather was on the change which it did a couple of days later. Very valid point though and thanks for commenting on that. Cheers, David.
