I got the cm2250 short block fuel pump in. Installing the new tappets and replacing the old plungers and barrels on the pump head and installing in the truck.
The pricing on timing tools is just outragous. Damn near $500 for a piece of plate with a couple of holes in it. Hopefully you can get to use it some more and make up for it.
That was an interesting job Warren. I do this stuff for a living as well and I got to say good mechanics can make a Regen system work well, and all these know it alls no how to do is disconnect shit and complain about it cause they don't no how it works. Keep up the good work love the videos.
Yup, once the drivers are trained, and the fleet runs one make/model of truck it isnt that bad. Im in the same boat. The technology has gotten much better.
Great video as always! The rain made me friggin cold! Kept wanting to reach thru the screen to hold that pump in place for you haha engineer's never think about the folks turning the wrenches when they come up with how this crap is installed... Again great job! Hope you don't find hashed bearings...
You just keep putting out a wealth of knowledge for everyone that takes the time to watch, listen, and learn. Glad the gentleman you mentioned and in the previous video comments section helped you source the pump to help both you and the owner out and save him some money (though that timing tool was $$) and gave you a new source of knowledge that can be shared. Take care and keep on doing great things.
Another mechanics master class, I really enjoy watching you battle with stubborn engine parts. You never give up and you always win in the end. The one thing that strikes me watching your videos is regardless of the engine make or model you work on the manufacturer always seem to go out of their way to make working on them as difficult as possible for guys like you. I guess to minimise the customers choices and pressure them into choosing total replacement rather than repair "Kaching" You can almost hear that cash register sound! You said in the video you'd like to specialise, truth is you are too valuable to go down that road, your speciality is getting the job done for the customer. I'm no mechanic, in fact to quote Oddball from Kelly's Hero's" *I only ride 'em, I don't know what makes 'em work* But watching you at work makes me appreciate the knowledge and skills you and others like you have to offer. 👌👏👍
You should pin the technical useful comment to the top I used your videos for tips before Be good to get the most useful comment at the top Good job even though your learning so are we Your prob the best instructional guy for the heavy gear on RU-vid Even though I mostly watch for entertainment
Hi Warren I am a big fan of your channel. Like you I work on everything and specialize in nothing, I have been asked to look at a Bobcat 763 skid steer that has a loud ticking sound from the top end. My customer put new valve springs in it and a new injector I believe. When we crack the fuel line to #3 cylinder the noise goes away. I am not a diesel tech. Any ideas what to look at next?
My Truck Runs Fine With A Full Tank But When It Gets Under Half A Tank......It Starts Acting Up. Acting Like There Is No Fuel In The Tank(Check Filter On Dash). But When I Fill It Back Up, Everything Works Fine. Had Tanks Cleaned And Inspected Due To Being Dirt......But It Didn't Fix The Problem. Help.
How much was that pump, and all the parts? It'd be great if you did a few more of those, offset the cost of that expensive tool. That needed all changed anyway- a filthy, nasty, dirty rig doesn't really scream "Professionalism" you know? When you were done- I hope they steam cleaned the area & repainted it. That new, shiny metal will turn to crap if uncoated.
Just did a rebuild on my Cummins and everything went fine except for that dang Fuel line on the front of that fuel pump head. Had to buy a new one because that ball at the end just would not seal up. It just kept dripping fuel.
Was curious what the exact customer complaint was have a truck that wont go over 19psi boost codes point to fuel have replaced a few things professionals still cant figure it out?
I have a code spn 157 fmi 18 only comes on when on idle and engine shuts off. Truck will pull good on hills with heavy load. You know what problem can be?
Hello Warren I'm a new viewer and enjoy that work on dang near everything and most of your videos are wrenching vs diagnostics.Keep telling your stories as they as always entertaining.
I hope im not the only person who can see the ghostly figure in brown between the 2 trucks sometimes in your shop in the backgroumd etc so who is he ot do you have a spirit helper.?
Sir Warren !!! Don't know what the Customer paid for that ""PETE"" ,,but I would have left it set on their lot with a ""BIG LEMON"" on the side of it !!!HAAHA Great video !!! NOT really sure with that many miles & BLOW BY TOO ,,IF I would put more $$$$$ into it & still not LEGAL ??? ""KEEP IT SAFE ""!!!
my hats off to ya , nice job. Appreciate how you run through and explain as you move along. 420 dollar timing tool. Tools and subscriptions are expensive but crucial. Shopping for Meritor/Wabco abs software this weekend. Part of the fleet I service are Prostar 4300 with Cummins and Maxxforces. They all have the hydraulic brakes and they are all starting to have a lot of issues beyond wheel speed sensors. OBD HD abs cant even pull codes. Time for an upgrade. What are you using if you don't mind. Wabco Toolbox or is there an alternative?
We have a 7530 John Deere with 3800 hours on it, and it has also smashed the turbo blades 2 weeks ago. Was running perfectly then stopped. When it was started up again it started knocking. 2 cylinders was damaged.. No warning.. regards from the farmer in Denmark.
Nice job on the fuel pump and emissions system! Leaving the tank petcocks off is something I would do! It does sound good alll finished. Keep us posted on the outcome of the bad sale transaction selling him a deleted truck when you asked and he told you it wasn’t deleted. You know damn well they knew it was deleted.
Do you know anything about a cummins fuel pump from an engine made in the 1940's. i cant seem to get any drawings or any details. Im in the UK so this gen set is rare to say the least thanks
My brother had a turbo let go on a engine and had to rebuild the engine, when he got it back running again it only lasted a day and it wrecked the new turbo and the engine again. Apparently he should have replaced the inter cooler and cleaned the pipes out also. He replaced the engine second time around as it was completely destroyed.
And I will add to that, the replacement engine, he lifted it out his truck with the forklift and when it was about a foot off the floor the strap broke dropping the engine on the concrete floor. It cracked the pan. He took the pan off to replace it and found metal in the bottom of that engine so had to rebuild that one too. lol it’s still running 8 years on so all good now. 👍
Yep that's a common mistake If the engine fails everything attached to it needs to be replaced or cleaned as well The other common one is remote oil coolers Engine fails and fills the system with metal Remove and replace engine Start new engine Flush the oil cooler and all the old metal into then new engine Ka boom
That timing piece must be patented to the hilt. It looks too simple to not be something a really good machinist like abom could produce for 1/3 the price.
what you can not remember every single machine and what you did to it 5 years go when that fuse blew. lol oh how i know what you are talking about. and things are changing so fast by the time we get good at it they change it. oh and yea buy those 4-600 dallors tools and by the time you need it again it take an hour to figure out where it got stored.
I had my dad and grandpa help me fix my fuel pump a couple weeks ago replaced it brand new and today I tried to start it and it is leaking and i dont know were the leak is
Warren, I have worked on the little 5.9 and a few 855's can't remember for life of me that cc rating but your fuel system would of had me running for my life! Amazing work... the dash on that truck cost more than the house I live in today.
Hi Warren, good job, as allways, people can rely on you to getter done correctly, sure sounds nice. You'll be glad to get this one out the yard I'm sure, I feel sorry for the owner who got stiched up from the deal , I can only guess the outcome will get messy, especially for the dealer. Looking forward to the next one, stay safe, best wishe's to you and your's, Stuart.uk.
Hey you said the vains came apart and caused that. but how would it travel backwards? It should have just spit the vains out the exhaust in my opinion.
The turbo is mounted above the exhaust manifold, it happens on the JD 6068 engines on start up, so there's no manifold pressure, they brake and gravity takes care of the rest.
Great work, dose the gear pump pull the fuel up from the tanks and then the plunger pump increase the pressure to supply it to the injectors for the final high pressure pump into the combustion chambers by the cam driven injectors?
Congratulations on this project completion. Without a doubt you are one of the most intelligent and articulate craftsmen I have viewed. Always a pleasure to watch, especially when the problems are multiple and complex.
Thanks for sharing Warren. Nice to hear you taking the Boss for a ride. If there is an easy job or at least one without major stuff screwed up by someone you are due.
Could you explain why you do timing on this pump. If I'm correct you do not have injector pump here , hence you time the fuel supply to injectors? Thanks.
