pre-pump i think good idea. the lubrication is solved by cummins, because oil inlet from the pump house, and the fuel is lighltly black, i consult the cummins dealer, he sad not problem the extra lubricant :)
hi, sometimes faulty ICV valve, inside abrasion! use cummins insite diagnostic tool, for checking ICV valve angle, when 120° the angle, i think faulty the icv valve. use separ 2000 diesel fuel filter (caps fuel system sensitive to fuel quality).
