Wembley Stadium, London.
L/S of large crowds heading towards the stadium, L/S pan across crowded stands and pitch with band in the middle. M/S of conductor leading everyone in 'Glory Glory Hallelujah' the spectators wave and cheer afterwards. M/S of royal standard flying. M/S as Sheffield Wednesday and West Bromwich Albion football teams walk onto the pitch together. M/S of Prince Edward, Prince of Wales (later King Edward VIII and Duke of Windsor) watching them from the side and waiting to meet them.
M/S of the two captains, Ronnie Starling for Sheffield Wednesday and Mr Tom Glidden for West Bromwich Albion, they toss the coin in front of Mr A. E. Fogg the referee. Starling wins the toss. Various shots as the match kicks off and Sheffield score within the first two minutes, slow motion M/S of the first goal scored by Palethorpe. The spectators cheer. There's no "D" on the 18 yard box. I didn't realise that it was a relatively recent addition to the pitch markings.

Actually in some pictures and books from even back in the 1800's it was already displayed, so probably it just wasn't mandatory or standard practice

The crowd are waving their songsheets courtesy of printers Felix McGlennon, London. These were folded into the (6d) programes for the spectators to sing the words to the songs. I worked there in early sixties. By then poular melodic songs were in decine to rock & roll, hardly suitable for a sing song. McGlennon's made a good living post war in printing the music and words of popular hits and sold in Woolworths. . Sadly no more.
