Let's be honest, deep inside we all knew he was evil all along. (I did kinda predicted last year he was the plot twist villain) plus... Damn, the level of cruelty while Saltbaker was massacrating the ingredients is insane.
I bought the art book in April (it had his picture towards the back of the book) and I literally told my friend 'He's gonna be the twist villain' still, 10/10
I like how Mr. Salt’s punishment was helping all the other dlc bosses and by the end he actually enjoyed helping them and became friends with all of them and he got his bakery back 14:08
I am just happy he gets a happy ending My heart kinda shattered in the comic part where he's sadly staring at his old bakery I'm glad he rehabilitated and came back
I kinda like the fact that he learned his lesson, due to the epilogue. He even got his bakery back, and started to seem happy when performing manual labor.
It helps that he was going to go through all the effort to make the Wondertart anyways and was also a great baker, so it was already known Saltbaker enjoyed hard labor.
@@kunny4465 I mean the song lyrics and end credits pictues do state the journey of rehabilitation that Saltbaker went through, particularly with the lyrics “It’s better to bake in heaven than to cook in hell”
The Howling Aces bossfight also has a hidden stage and three different ending animations as well, depending on when you defeat the last stage and how you dealt with the second stage. Amazing attention to detail by the devs!
Fun fact: I was playing as Mugman with the astral cookie equipped when I played this. I walked into the room, and there was Mugman's soul. Battle starts, and suddenly, Mugman is completley fine! Day saved.
Mug: hi guys👋 Cup and Cha: wait where'd you to place that just walked in and the player that just walked in here? *Battle starts* Wait how did you get out of there!?
I think everyone can agree this game deserved taking this long to come out. It is stunning in every way and I was honestly kinda happy that they ended up reusing ideas that didn’t use in the original game ( Particularly the Moonshine gang with the first two fazes with the spider and the record player with the beems turning different colors. Also a bit of the original “devil” fight ( the one they had before the official release ) got in this time with the angle and devil fight ) I just think that’s so cool
I know some of you predicted that Chef Saltbaker was going to be evil here but to be honest I was not expecting this. I thought he was going to be a kindhearted fellow who will help the Cups' quest in helping Ms. Chalice and that someone else was pulling the strings but to my surprise it's Saltbaker who's the main villain. He tricked the Cups into getting the ingredients for him to that he can bake the Wondertart with Chalice's soul as his main ingredient which in my opinion is honestly very dark.
@@harrymg8458 okay I guess you have a point there but even if he could get the souls of the island's residents how could he do it? They have to be dead in order to get their souls, well unless you count the ghost detective at the graveyard. I probably won't get the answer anyway because of well cartoon logic.
12:36 I love how in the end Saltbaker has a Redemtpion arc and uses that to be a good guy again and this time for good. That’s some good storytelling and narrative and yes that is a cheesy main ending, it’s realistic b/c everyone can have a redemption arc and essentially, a happy ending :)
Wow, the bossfights are so well animated its amazing! The new animation style really makes the game feel more alive, and the boss' attacks are more unique too, overall just a great dlc
We should protect those poor souls! Anyway, this is the part for each character: Chalice. 0:20 Cutscene. 0:56 Battle. 3:33 Ending. Mugman. 4:34 Cutscene. 5:04 Battle. 7:34 Ending. Cuphead. 8:34 Cutscene. 9:12 Battle. 11:42 Ending. Thanks for watching!
Kinda sad that there was no way of really helping Chalice, but since in the end she is shown alive I will just imagine that they somehow found the way to help her.
This boss HAD to have been rotoscoped, he's so smooth and filled with motion, arcs, easing in and out. Ig you gotta go out with a bang. All the bosses in general were very smooth too
Can we appreciate that the creators did the amazing job at this game 😊 Edit: Wow I got so many likes I am almost reaching to 100 likes Edit 2: 97 likes?! Wow I guess everyone liked this comment😲
This boss was so hard, but I was able to beat it. Ms. Chalice is a good character. I wonder if Markiplier will play the DLC? And, is the Delicious Last Course, meant to be the FINAL Cuphead related game?
It's a DLC to the original (and at this point and time, only) game in the series, so all it means is that it's the last content update the game will get. The possibility of a full on sequel isn't off the table (unless there's a tweet/post that says otherwise that I haven't see/wasn't made before I posted this comment).
I can expect Saltbaker and The Devil fighting between themselves for Cuphead's soul, like the one time where Tom and an Eagle did the same thing to get Jerry
Me when chalice needed help: meh sure- Me when mugman needed help: LET'S GO GRIND TIME- YOU DON'T TOUCH THE BEST BOI MUGMAN- Me when cuphead needed help: Ah- i always play as cuphead- WELL THAT'S GONNA BE FUN-
@@J4WURSED And he realizes the error of his ways during his punishment, so that's a good thing. He's learned his lesson. And he helped undo all of the damage that he had the cups cause in order to get the Wondertart ingredients in the first place. So, he helped make up for all of that manipulation and damage in the DLC Isle.
But it’s a “dlc” with like 3/16 of the bosses from the first game.. I heard this dlc can take 6 to 7 hours to complete depending on the experience that would be a very bad short asf game.. they could have atleast added like 3 more bosses with the 5 year span this took to make
I like how Saltbaker "evolves" from a 30s rubberhose animation type to a 40s Disney movie type in his boss fight. Gives an extra uncanny feel to him next to everyone else. (Though leaves me wondering how a Cuphead sequel with all "evolved" animation would look, imagine Cuphead getting the Mickey Mouse treatment XD)
I love how the game always has everyone at the end being friends. Intense battles are great but becoming friends after great battles is greater. I know that sounded cringe
So I think the one who gets captured depends on who's present and whether they have the Astral Cookie equipped or not Chalice: Either of the bros. without the Astral Cookie equipped/ Nobody has the cookie equipped. Mugman: Player is Mugman, Astral Cookie is equipped/ Mugman has the Cookie equipped (meaning Mugman is the one out of the battle normally). Cuphead: Player is Cuphead, Astral Cookie is equipped/ Cuphead has the Cookie equipped (meaning Cuphead is the one out of the battle normally). note that i have not played the game, so this is just guessing for the multiplayer (while the single-player is shown in the video).
With a theory going around saying that Saltbaker was being controlled, just a couple things I noticed that would debunk that. 1. In most cases when a character is being controlled by something or another entity, you can see the "host" struggle, kinda try to fight off what it is that enter them. That is never shown for him 2. Now being able to enjoy the animation instead of running around the screen trying to avoid everything, I see that in the first phase he has black pupils (I think is the correct term) and second phase they are completely yellow. I guess in a way it could be a small symbolism that he's getting more insane because he's using all of his power to get rid of you. 3. His obsession for power was what was taking over him if anything 4. This happens AFTER you defeat the devil even going on a different isle where there's no mention of him so, yeah And speaking of the devil 😆 everyone is saying that the baker is more menacing, to me, I wouldn't use that word because it's just facts, or common sense to avoid the devil lol and he was already exploiting the characters' weaknesses. You should already know not to get involved with him. I think it's more so a shock factor (Not by too much because it was kinda obvious) to see in one scene a kind person pretending to want to help and then the next he's chopping up things with a grin saying that he's enjoying this just a little too much. A lesson maybe that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover or that anyone will do just about anything for power
I love the idea of Chef Saltbaker acting like a Kirby villain (betraying the hero for the purpose of becoming almighty before getting its butt kicked and becoming a friend instead).
The ending was awesome! I’m glad they put an epilogue that features each boss and what they’re up to, along with remaking the original intro song now including Ms. Chalice for the end credits. The creativity and detail are 10/10
I feel like the boss animation got better since the first game. Obviously the first game was animated beautifully but the animation on Saltbaker was so lively. I can't wait to see what else the cuphead team might make

Damn, that looks hard as hell, but a really superb animation and gameplay.
Writing a whole guide for those who need help S Ranking this beast: Now, he's very intimidating, so much stuff is flying everywhere. But he's really not too hard, But here's what you do Lineup: Shot A: CrackShot Shot B: Chaser Super Art: 2 Charm: Astral Cookie (Heart Ring if you're better at Cuphead) Phase 1: Attacks: Sugar Cubes, these things will move in a wave pattern. All of them following it with some going off path. And every 4 sugar cubes, a parriable one will appear, get as many parries early on Strawberries, these are almost the worst attack, they move from the top of the screen, moving SouthWest and spinning, some being half or whole, try and jump between the spaces between 2 strawberries because they are abundant when spawned. Limes, the worst attack in the entire fight, they move in. Rectangular pattern, you can crouch and roll through them if you do it right. And then these become easy Sugar Cookies: These are really easy, just aim upwards if possible because it's hard to hit them with crackshot, maybe use chaser when he mashes the dough. Twin Fireballs: These things are annoying through the first 2 phases. One will jump off the bat of the fight. The thing is, when they jump and your in the middle of a big leap, dash above them before they rise up. Also try and gather them close to each other and stay far away, as they take turns lowering down. Strategy: He will either start the fight with the limes or the sugar cubes coming from the right side of the screen. Get as many parries as early as possible, and try and use your super as much as possible, remember, the shields do not stack so wait until one is gone to use another. Now, if you find yourself in a pickle, say there's a line cornering you with a thousand sugar cubes coming with a fireball diving, just roll through it, it's that easy. Utilize your roll in phase 1, it helps a ton. Also, use only crackshot in this phase unless he uses the sugar cookies. Phase 2: Attacks: Pepper Sneeze: These will come in varieties of colors, including parries! For the ones on the ground, roll under them because they fire very periodically. Also try and parry them as much as you can, also also, jump and parry if they are coming straight at you, if you just dash at them, without jumping, you have a 99% chance of rolling into the fireballs. The Fires: These guys are not too bad in this phase, if they aren't moving and you need to go somewhere, roll through them but DO NOT roll through them if they are next to each other. You will for sure roll into one of them. Mints (a.k.a. Leaves): These things are pests if you get unlucky. Either they are spaced out, OR THEY ARE TIGHTER THAN THOSE SHOELACE KNOTS. Just jump through them, and if you can, roll through them if you get the timing right. Strategy: For this phase, use crackshot as well. Don't worry about landing hits. Just worry about dodging the stuff on screen, as it takes 10 shakers to kill him in this phase. You wanna kill the shakers in a pattern that goes from the lower left corner to the upper right corner. And then restart at the lower left. And really, just put all the skills I said together Phase 3 & 4: I put these together because they are both pretty short. Phase 3 Attacks: Saw blades, there will be twin saw blades starting from each end of the map. They will each move back and forth across the floor. Saltdancer: After a hand molds up 2 salt bakers dancing, they will drop down and starting bouncing Goopy Le Grande style. Except they never stop and there a saws in the floor. Though they don't have much health. Phase 4 Attacks: Heart of Salt: it's a literal heart that moves around the screen, bouncing off the walls, DVD logo style. And it's actually parriable which is cool. So try and parry it when possible of course. Platforms: Glass platforms will be coming from the top of the screen that you have to Jump on, though you have to be constantly moving because they lower very fast. And if they are far apart, do a jump dash move to cross the long gap. Strategy: Now once you've reached here, you should be done, pop a shield if you don't have one on. And be ready, for the salt dancers will drop on your location so be always moving so you don't get hit, if he bounces right above you and you have to dash but you are about to land on a saw blade, do a jump dash jump dash as chalice, do a full jump and dash as cup head though. And this phase is over quick, also, get to the middle once the saltbakers de materialize so you have a bit more time to jump to the first platform, switch to chaser once the floor collapses and just stay calm, don't get greedy by parrying the heart to much, try and stay on the opposite side of the map from the heart unless you need parries, pop a shield as chalice, and you are done with the S rank! Notes: You need to not get greedy and don't get sidetracked Don't worry about your damage output, you have 3:10 to complete the boss. But try to use crackshot for the first 2 phases, and chaser for the last 2 Don't ever use EX moves in this fight, they are a waste of your precious time unless you have heart ring + crackshot. Just don't get greedy with the Ex moves Focus on as much as you can, this game punishes you for not having 6 eyeballs, so counter that by constantly (but controllably) moving your eyes around the screen, just keep close to your character Use sounds in saltbakers first phase to know which attack is next. And that's all I can provide, Good luck and stay strong
Well, they aren’t much. They’re basically the same Whatever duo you have defeat Saltbaker They free Cuphead or Mugman (depending on which one you have) They switch with Ms. Chalice (Unless Chalice is the trapped soul) Everything remains the same afterwards
Between Devil taking away Mugman for a reason I don’t remember in the Cuphead Show or Saltbaker trying to use one of Cuphead’s friends (OR CUPHEAD HIMSELF!!!!) for the Wonder Tart… I don’t see the difference.
The Wondertart ingredients! It needs a soul to make it, any soul as highlighted in the three ending branches, without a soul it's just an expensive, rare tart, nothing special.
The food that's alive reminds of the song "Worthless" from "The Brave Little Toaster" when in that movie the cars are alive and sing about the things that they were before until they were thrown by their owners and get crushed and killed in the junkyard, for some reason the ingredients coming to life and getting chopped reminds me of that.....
I'm the only one who notice that the thanks before the credits are basically the sames the Walt Disney put in Snow White? I mean....cuphead and Snow White are kinda similiar in history, if you think about it: Snow White was the first 100% animated movie that actually last more than an hour in history, everybody thought that Disney was crazy, it was re-made 3 times and if it wasn't end up as a masterpiece Disney would have lost everything. Cuphead is, probably, the first traditionaly animated videogame ever; the worked for....how much? 10 years? And i heard somewhere that the same creators wouldn't did it if they knew for how much time they should have work. So.....a totally sensible and good way to make an easter egg but at the same time thanks all the help they got.
god every fucking time Saltbaker whips around and slashes the knife it makes me jolt as much as the first time. Even tho I know it's coming it still gets me lmao. The animators knew what they were doing there fr 😂 not only that, but his entire character/bossfight is genuinely very dark and just straight up unnerving (the devil didn't even come close to this), ESPECIALLY at the last phase. Im honestly impressed!
There's an exploit if you enter the boss using cookie. if you die, you can change out your charm. Game will initially spawn you as Cuphead/Mugman in their idle, but immediately swap you to Chalice. You will still have whatever charm you swapped to, as well Chalice's abilities (note single heart does nothing, and twin only adds one). Hope MDHR makes this a new game+ instead of just fixing the bug
People kept talking about the ingredients, but i didn't notice at first, but a look of horror did not leave my face when i finally saw the poor ingredients
I love ll the details that have been put in like if Chalice is taken and the word changes to SHE. Its almost as if being given a holiday makes people want to work harder because they like their job.
the ending he got was sweet. i really expected him to get a bad ending and plus i felt bad for him since it seemed like he got depression while spending time in jail- working to pay his debt to the land
