Even the pure performance data of the CUPRA Formentor VZ5 embody pure motorsport: With its 390 hp (287 kW) five-cylinder turbo petrol engine, a tremendous torque of 480 Nm and the 4Drive all-wheel drive system, the crossover SUV sprints in with ease only 4.2 seconds from a standstill to 100 km/h before the electronics lock at 250 km/h. Acoustically, the specially tuned, four-pipe exhaust system perfectly underscores the unmistakably distinctive sound of the five-cylinder in-line engine, giving all car enthusiasts goosebumps.
Attention lovers of high-horsepower SUVs: If you want to secure one, you shouldn't hesitate too long: the five-cylinder is limited to 7,000 units worldwide.
However, the CUPRA Formentor VZ5 is not just the emotional spearhead of the series thanks to its powerful drive train. The rest of the technology also reflects its thoroughbred motorsport DNA: With its widened track and the chassis that is 10 mm lower than the other VZ models, the crossover SUV achieves even greater cornering stability. A torque splitter is also installed, which ensures maximum agility: integrated on the rear axle, it electro-hydraulically distributes the torque variably to the two 20-inch rear wheels via two independent clutches.
The high-performance brake system has also been adapted to the driving performance: With six pistons per caliper, the Akebono brake not only offers outstanding deceleration performance, but also high stability under constant load and thus sufficient reserves.
Ultimate also in the interior
The optional leather sports bucket seats offer adequate lateral support for ambitious driving styles. The new CUP-Supersport bucket seats in black or petrol-blue leather provide even more motorsport feeling and keep the driver and front passenger securely in position with their excellent lateral support. The CUPRA Formentor VZ5 2.5 TSI 4Drive is exclusively available in three exterior colors: Midnight Black Metallic, Magnetic Gray Matt and Petrol Blue Matt.
