Many people think that Minifigures are meant to be printed on a resin printer and that you cant make them look good with a standard FDM printer. I'm here to tell you that while the Minifigure will turn out better on a resin printer, they can still turn out great on a standard FDM printer like an Ender 3/3Pro.
In this video, I go over all the test prints that I did between two printers to show you that you don’t need an expensive printer for your min figures to turn out good. From there, I show you the settings I used in Cura to get the prints that I show you in the video.

This is exactly what I've been looking for (ender 3 v2) ..I'm trying out custom supports and your settings, I had PLA+ so using like 198c temp for nozzle. So far so good. I love when others share their exact Cura settings! Thank you!

The issues I am having is mostly support. I've found the optium temperature at about 205-211, but even with your other video, pieces of my minis keep breaking, or the printer will print the "floaty loops" in places that I thought had support. And then, the only other issue I have is going back into the software and correcting my mistakes. For some reason, Cura isn't always letting me back into the G-code file to correct whatever mistakes I need to.

Hi. I try to make custom supports where needed when working with minis but if the original stl has issues it may still cause problems. I tend to fall back to Simplify3D when i have issues like this, but the software isnt cheap so i dont bring it up alot.

Im considering using a 3D printer to make a custom Catan board. Do you think this printer can work for that?
@3DPrintscape
@3DPrintscape 3 года назад
Hi. I think you would be able to make Catan boards with a 3d printer. Depending on the size you are wanting, it may have to be printed in section then assembled afterwards. It may also be worth taking a look on thingiverse to see if anyone has already created some.

Printing miniatures myself, i must say the print settings you use look like they need a lot of improvement. I never get prints that look as rough as the ones in this video (after tweaking a lot, of course)

Hi. Thanks for the feedback. The prints i have here were not really touched or cleaned up at all after the print, i just removed the supports. If your getting better quality prints, would you mind sharing you Cura profile for me to review? If i get better prints off it i would update the profile on my site as well. Hi. I would recommend starting with a temp tower (i cover that here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cINepqqcKEo.html ). Once you get the right temp i you can use this as a starting point, but you may need to make some small adjustments for the V2.

Just out of curiosity, could some stuff be improved by cutting the figure in the program, to avoid supports. Like let's say arms. Then when printed you could just glue them on.

I followed your profile to a T, but the filament curls up around the nozzle. Any suggestions?
@3DPrintscape
@3DPrintscape 3 года назад
Hi. Sorry to hear you are having issues. It sounds like you may have a partial jam, or your printing temperature is too low. The first thing I would do is raise the z-axis and run some filament through it to make sure it's coming out cleanly. If it's not, you may need to replace the nozzle and clean out the inside of the heatsink and heating block. With the way the tubing goes into the heating block on the Ender 3 it's pretty common for some filament to oz out inside it during long prints, which causes this issue. It’s the biggest reason I upgraded to a Micro Swiss hotend. If all of that checks out, make sure your bed is complexly level and that the nozzle isn’t too close to it.
@patnor7354
@patnor7354 3 года назад
You may just need to run the included needle through the nozzle to clean it.

@@3DPrintscape I am wrong if I think most of the parameters of "infill" must be put in practicing while make some annotation or creating diffeerent profiles? Are you talking about the infill for the supports? If so, I did a video covering custom supports that you can see here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wnzeJZpo4fU.html .
