This short film documents Curating Climate: Nature NOW - an exhibition of digital and animated artworks created with diverse community groups from Barrow-in-Furness led by award-winning digital artists Dr Michaela French and super/collider during Spring/Summer 2022. Curating Climate showcases artworks made over the past five months that unite and respond to the meaningful experiences the groups had in Grizedale Forest. The works creatively raise awareness of the impact of climate change, such as the recent Storm Arwen damage of 2021, on the beautiful natural spaces on our doorstep and of the forest’s resilience.
This project was developed through a series of visits and workshops with both youth and adult participants, the digital images, animations and artworks reveal both connection and concern and not only tell the story of the forest NOW, but also of its past and its future.
