Probably why my younger sister never got one. She was 10 when they first came out and probably would've appreciated one even at that age. But my mom would've never gone through fighting for one.

It was a madhouse! They opened the doors to a mob! I never did get one. There was no limit back then. I may be scarred for life. NOT!!LOLOL

I worked at Toys R Us. We locked them up! There was a waiting list to get them. I was the one who stood in the glass “cage” with the dolls people picked which one they wanted and had to show me their ticket. It was a true “craze”!

Yes! My mom worked in the toy department at Kmart and snagged me one as soon as the freight came off the truck. Becuase yes people were duking it out in the middle of the store over these dolls and there wasnt a huge stock of them at first

Just found this channel....yes I paid 75.00 a piece for 2 cabbage patch dolls Christmas 1983! My daughter had to have one(still has Ricky) couldn't get her one without getting her younger brother one. We were 19 years old, struggling with house payments and life but those dolls were everything . So funny choices made when we were young. LOL The dolls literally went down to 35.00 on the 27 th 😂 (hard lessons learned)

'65 here. And yeah I hear ya. I remember being 16/17 and seeing the Cabbage Patch Doll commercials and thinking how cute they were but knowing I was too old for them. Lol.

Vintage is anything 20 years old. Antique is 100 and up. Anyone who sells items needs to know that cause many ppl use the word antique for items that aren’t old enough.

@@treasurefindswithjane9068 I cared for my mom about 2 3/4 years before she passed. I was with her 22 hrs a day, trying to recover my home now. I just moved in with her. She was mostly bedfast, but I got her up to bathroom and some days a walk down the hall to the den. I was her primary caregiver. It's a hard job, but as you well know, one we would do over and over again out of love. We do things we never thought we were capable of , but do because they must be done and we are there for her. I prayed for strength and it was always granted. I I wouldn't change one second of the time I spent with mom and have no regrets because I know in my heart that I took the best care of her that I could. She never had a bed sore till the evening before she passed and it just appeared! It was a big shock. I fed her almost every meal. I cooked things she loved and was able to eat. She had lost half her body weight, doubt she weighed 60#, her mouth had shrunk so her teeth no longer fit. What a time finding things to fix. Her gums finally hardened to where she could do pretty well. I really miss her. She would pull my face down and give me the biggest kiss and say what would I ever do without you!! When I'd go to bed, she would always hold my hand till she went to sleep. I had a beautiful, wonderful mother. We have all those memories in our hearts. It never gets easier. I'm so very ssd's sorry for your loss. I lost both in 4 1/2 years, but was so blessed because both parents were in their mid 90s. God was so good to me and I thanked Him for every second He left them here.

Seriously, my kids are from that era. I assure you, I am not old enough to go into assisted living or pass away. I don't even collect Social Security!! Now, my 96 year old Auntie is in assisted living. She will probably outlive us all.

@Michelle Vill I have a Cerebral Canaverous Malformation with twisted blood vessels that resulted in a stroke at age 54. I was airlifted to Mayo & they literally saved my life. I had to learn to walk, talk & read again. Was in PT for 2 years. I know the struggles as I still deal with it every single day. I was just pointing out the ageism of the comment.

Marsha Crom some of them are worth a lot, box collectors want the boxes and dolls in like new condition. Hard to sell the market is overflowing with them. I’ve sold on eBay for years and have sold a lot of them.

I had some madame Alexander dolls when I was young and still have some somewhere . I think they are worth something now . McDonald’s used to give tiny ones in happy meals and I collected those too. Thanks for the hint for the curb alerts . I’ve wondered how you find so much stuff at curbs !!

Yep. The cabbage patch dolls in box with adoption papers are worth more than just the doll by itself.

Yes, always keep dolls in their original boxes with all paperwork. My aunt was a doll collector and I've inherited her estate. She was a hoarder of nice things... not junk. It makes it much harder to clean out the house because you can't go through and just throw things away.

I would see if the Bush Library would like the Flat Stanley memorabilia.

Finally someone else knows the ages of Vintage & Antique!! You are so right, every time someone advertises “Antiques” for sale I ask them the age & they usually say 50 years, 25 years and I attempt to correct them but they insist they are correct so I always pass!
