Interesting thought: something Jimmy fails to mention is that game-winning buzzer beaters are only possible if the game is one score (I wish he also made a graph about attempts vs. makes in buzzer beater situations). So it doesn't necessarily mean that players shoot better or it is a "rare" feat; it may suggest the NBA is more competitive and talent is more equally distributed.

I hit a game winner my sophomore year of high school. We were taking it out and had to go the length of the court (down one). The play was to get it in to our PG for a couple dribbles or launch it to our big man at the free-throw line and hope for a Duke style turn around jumper. I’ll never forget just waiting to see what happens….when my buddy taking it out locked eyes with me (just shy of half court left). I can still feel the thought of “don’t do it, Andrew” in my head. He gave it to me. Being left-handed, two dribbles and a runner off one foot, two guys in my grill. I got bumped hard enough I almost fell over, expecting a foul call. I, half way on the ground, looked up in time to see the ball hit nothing but net. Won us the conference. One of the most vivid memories from long ago I’ll never forget. Which reminds me, I need to get that VHS transferred to a digital format if it isn’t ruined.
