I love how as annoying as Larry David is here, Dr. Morrison is fairly patient and diplomatic because he's on the job and it's a matter of etiquette. In a later episode when Larry accidentally calls Dr. Morrison at home, he has no obligation to be diplomatic and his frustration with Larry explodes!
I remember when the doctor was a much older man. Kindly. Discreet. We didn't know anything about his private life. We didn't want to know anything about his private life. He didn't have a private life.
@@craigmurdock4740 One of my favourite actors. Have you seen "Hard Eight" ? Simply brilliant acting of Philip Baker Hall ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yf0aPhYEcVI.html&t=284
You buy a jar of Folger's Crystals, you put it in the the cupboard, you forget about it. Then later on when you need it, it's there. It lasts forever. It's freeze dried. Freeze dried crystals.
@Fran Ra yeah that ones pretty old i hear it a lot when i say i like my women like i like my coffee, others say "black" some say "hot and sweet" but i prefer mine BITTER give me a bitter bitch any day
"71 that was my first year on the job. Bad year for libraries. Bad year for America. Hippies burning library cards. Abbie Hoffman telling everybody to steal books."
"The history how we arrived at that, is so complex that I won't even bore you with it. Just let it be said that we don't allow anyone to use the phones in the examination rooms." PURE GOLD
I always enjoy looking through the drawers and cabinets in the exam room when I'm waiting for the doctor. It's fun to see how long you can get away with it before the he comes in. Then you gotta close them really fast and act all nonchalant before they catch you. It's a fun game.
A Mexican Standoff involving a head wound, a phone, a doctor and a one sided rule that won't be explained to the logical enquiring self labelled victim...Ya see what ya did Mel!
Yeah, '71... Bad year for libraries. Bad year for America. Hippies burning library cards, Abby Hoffman telling everybody to steal books. I don't judge a man by the length ofhis hair or the kind of music he listens to. Rock was never my bag. But you put on a pair of shoes when you walk into the New York Public Library, fella......
He does have a cell phone. Larry used his cell phone and accidently called the Doctor's house number later in the episode. Much to the Doctor's anger LOL
you woudnt walk into a hardware store or supermarket, go up to the customer service desk and make a call, so why do it in a doctors surgery? I'm with Bookman on this.
Before cell phones you could ask to use the phone. I used to all the time. If it's related to why you are at the store, they didn't care. For example, at the video store you call your family to clarify what video they wanted you to rent.
"Why couldn't I use it?" "Well, you could use it, you obviously did. We don't want you to use it." The derisive way in which Hall delivers that line (especially the "you obviously did") is underappreciated. I lose it every time I hear it.
The history how we came to that, is so complex that I will not bore you with it. But since he ask the question, I am now really interested why they don't let people use the phone?
+marshall886 +Alex Wolk you can call in prescriptions with doctors phone, (pharmacy knows it's the doctors office) so Larry or anyone could call in narcotics prescription or whatever he likes without the usual doctor identification checks.
The last time someone used a doctor's phone was Thomas Edison calling the patent office to steal Nikola Tesla's inventions. So now no one uses the doctor's phone.
Great to see the fast talking library detective from Seinfeld again. "Maybe thats how you get your jollies, David. Maybe using other people's phones turns you on."
The doctor: phillip baker hall acts like a real doctor here! ; calm, robotic and curt if necessary. I was waiting for him to bust out in " So you think you're a tough guy ha, well I've got news for you" One of the best scenes out of Seinfeld❤ RIP Mr Hall, thanks for the laughs😅😂
First time I've seen this clip and am cracking up!! I love how Lt. Bookman didn't back down at all. One of the few people on the show who could legit go toe to toe with Larry! lol
man alive that was frickin hilarious. This is why I love curb so much, there are so many of these humorous exchanges throughout the series. No other programme matches the natural realistic style of comedy found here.
"ahhunnghnn.........THE HELL?!?!?! ...............Ya'...Ya drooled on me!" hahaha ...it was this random moment from this episode which i first saw that got me started on Curb in the 8th grade when this Season (4) premiered in late '03 or early '04. been in love with LD and this show ever since :]
