Tried this drill but then cut out most and just let club fall under its own weight as instructed,,, brilliant Now have a short game after 30 years

Is this a trail hand more dominant technique?

Clubhead to pass hands as you said , would that not be “flipping the club” for a not so advanced player .

He’s obviously never had the yips. His cure is exactly what I can’t do. Dropping the club into the ball is impossible when you have the yips. The fear of duffing or sculling from repeated past failures makes it impossible to do what his cure is. When no ball is there I can do it all day long. Put a ball there and my mind/body freezes up mid swing.

Exactly. People who don't have the yips can never understand the sensation. This isn't a technique thing folks. You're about to hit the ball and your hand(s) literally jerk. I have had the driver yips for years. I'll go multiple rounds without them and I hit the driver really well as a 3 handicap. Then, randomly they appear. It's not as if I forgot how to hit a driver. The jerk at impact just happens

You guys have my palms sweating just reading about this. Joint issues have me going back to golf (out of desperation) after playing old man tennis tournaments for years. Have been on a (Quixotic?) quest to see about curing my chipping/pitching yips that drove me out of the game 25 years ago, inspired by all the great RU-vid instruction I'm finding. Still not sure how much of it can be traced back to technique, but I'm certain that at least "some" of it can be. Have managed over the years to cure my putting yips - even to the point now of no longer having to use the claw grip! Was putting with my eyes closed back when I gave the game up. Have also managed to cure my "tossing" yips for my tennis serve, "mostly" technique (grip of the ball) related, I think. I'm gradually moving up the line on chipping techniques, starting with that "toe down/handle" up thing using just a shoulder/putting type stroke. There are now plenty of days when I can even pitch with an L wedge off tight lies and a "bounce" technique - if I don't try to hit it very far or draw it back very far. 🙂 A big part of *my* problem is that I've identified multiple technical flaws, and I often still forget some/many of them. I don't seem to be able use more than 15 or 16 swing thoughts per shot. 🙂 The stuff in Kerrod's video *does* ring true for me, but a lot of my efforts have involved using the cool, slow-mo video on my smart phones (you gotta do both DTL and FO, don't you? 🙂), so I've done a *lot* of analyzing of video. The one thing that's stumping me a bit with Kerrod's "hinging up with the arms" and then turning is that his left arm magically becomes "straight" again before dropping the club down. "Softening the arms" registers to me as "light grip" (which, like exaggerating getting - and keeping - my weight on the left foot) is readily forgotten when I'm concentrating on one of my many *other* technique flaws. Foam "cat toy" balls, wiffle balls, and now "Almost Golf Balls" have all been playing their part in my progress. A shag bathroom rug is a surprisingly decent surface off which to chip. Too many other technique mods to mention, but I think I *do* have plenty of reason to conclude that much of the yips problems have had at least "some" technique aspect. I *do* know what it feels like to have massive, involuntary flinches occur. I can't *imagine* how horrible it must feel for a good driver to have the driver yips show up. I know nothing of those - yet. 😞

yep, I think reps is the answer to get to a point where the fear is gone, do 100? and I bet its 75 percent gone, this coming from a double hitter...
