Thank you for such a great explanation. Allowing the forearms to roll was so key to a better result for me. I was trying to force holding club at impact and not allow the forearms to roll…I was less consistent and certainly had less distance. At first it seems scary to let it roll but it’s so much better. An impact ball with colors on each side is a great aid that I use. Simply swing the club with the ball and it gives that instant feedback and you can feel your forearms have to roll to keep a swing going.
No rotation through the ball is not a fix. Learn to swing slighly from the inside WITH wrist follow through/rotation. You have to fix club path and club rotation....BOTH. Your drill just shows people how to leave the face open ....hitting a nice high shot.
Your right leg on the backswing should not be locked. You almost have a backwards shift. If you got rid of that, you would have more power transferred and feel a lot freer.
Good info but for me personally I tried for years to get weight more in the heel and it’s caused to much sway and “lunging” in the downswing. I still try to get the weight there but making sure the pressure or weight never lifts my backswing big toe. If I keep my toe on the ground and pressure in it that helps me stay centered and I don’t rush the downswing and lunge. This could be a feel or a real all I know it’s helped me tremendously with balance, weight shift, backswing positioning and better downswing move to release the club head more effectively.
Old school putting (Jack, Crenshaw) is not the way on modern greens. Tiger for sure is handsy/strong arc but he’s the most skilful golfer ever. Not the way for most.
The key to becoming a good golfer is to get out of the technical and focus on the task. What is the task? To swing to a target. The ball is just an obstacle in the way. The better you are at focusing on the task and getting your brain out of the way, the better you will be. Natural athletes are far better at this. They intuitively know to hit a ball from here to there, they need to let their body do what it knows how to do and get their mind out of the way. Think about it. If I ask you to toss a golf ball to me, do you have to think about where to position your hand? When to open and close it? How hard to swing it? Nope, you just focus on the task and your brain does all those calculations.
ffs..I used to play off 16, quit for a few years due to kids.......got back in and developed a beautiful draw, which is completely unwanted most of the time. I've been turning my shoulders more to the right at address to try and offset, but that just moves the low point further back and makes it worse. Trie to hit with a 'flatter' swing, but that just ruins the arc and takes everything way offline, making it all worse. I just could not figure out how to start right and let my natural draw bring me back on centre....... You just nailed it....... Drop my arms on the squat, which opens everything up to let the head have plenty 'square' time and space to flow through the impact. Now I'm back to hitting them right of target to bring them back in.....now I just need to moderate the draw control. Thank you.
Two points why can’t you use a real golfer with the EE issue. And trying to make a swing trying to squat and stick your backside out destroys any natural timing. Sorry guys
Not only are you probably the most progressive instructor on You Tube, your swing is the prettiest of any teacher I've seen!! Your own golf swing clearly employs the principles you are promoting. Tour pros don't just hit the ball further because of talent. They are more efficient in terms of using their body and hands. The difference players of all abilities would see by playing "gravity golf" is mind blowing. As fine a training video as I've seen.
Brilliant advice, I have been swinging too steep for years, never knowing if my ball was going straight, left or right. Adopted your advice and made massive improvements in ball direction, achieving extra distance too, thank you
I have a number of videos on all of these wing faults. Here is one that should help out your balance: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5mq1NPnSepI.html
