Yet again you are giving us usable information. Thank you Anastasia, I really appreciate it. Watching you has made me interested in doing nails. Not professionally, but I have 2 daughters and many nieces. They’re students who can’t afford to have their nails done all the time, so it would be awesome if I could do it for them for free ❤️❤️❤️❤️

With runnier gels you can hold the hand upside down so that the gravity pulls the gel to the middle, everytime the gel wants to seep in to the cuticle you can just flip the hand upside down. This works great when you're building the apex, flip the hand upside down for a few seconds, move the gel to where you want it with your brush and then cure it 😊 And also the heat spike only happens with the first layer because it is the layer that's closest to the natural nail, so for that layer if it is a sensitive client you can use the low heat mode. Or take the hand out and flip the hand upside down for a few seconds and then put the hand in to the lamp again, do this 3-4 times until it doesn't burn anymore and then cure full time as normal. Elizabeth from the Nail Hub and also Celina Rydén does this and teaches their clients to do this, they have videos on their RU-vid channels where they show how to do it. It helps with the heat spike and it also helps the gel to stay where it should be so it doesn't run in to the cuticles 🥰

Is there anything wrong using a uv/led combo lamp of 48w if the product requires 36w?? If so do you determine the curing timer? Example if 36w requires 30 seconds, 48w would require less time?

As for the wrinkle polish how do you know when it's fully dried when you touch it and it "seems dry" do I cure this in a led lamp to fix this issue? Is it impossible to fix after it has been done

I appreciate your advise always! I am suffering today with blisters from my LED/UV lamp last night. I don't know why my skin is so darn sensitive!!
@mellinsomnia1
@mellinsomnia1 3 года назад
If you have blisters, it's definitely not from the lamp, but from the sensitivity to the products you used. I had severe allergic reaction to a primer a few years ago, I had redness and swelling, my nails were itchy, the skin was tender and a few nails started separating themselves from the tissue. Try different products and make sure they don't touch your skin. My pic is that the primer is doing this, but any other product that touches the skin can cause this.
@emilyhollis4231
@emilyhollis4231 3 года назад
@@mellinsomnia1 it sounds worse than it is....I mean they're blisters, but you need a magnifying glass to see them....to the naked eye it looks just red. I forgot my sunblock yesterday. I've tried soooooo many different products..... I think you're right though....I believe it's the alcohol (or slip solution) combined with the light. When I have acrylic with gel polish, this doesn't happen. But I suuuuuuuuck at acrylic application 🤦🏻‍♀️ Right now I'm using polygel (started in March during lockdown)...I've ordered some extender gel to try (I think that's the same as soft gel). I got a practice hand this weekend so I can work on my acrylic application too. I'm determined!! lol ps...Anastasia has created such a lovely community here....I just love it!! 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖

I have found a solution for gel sensitivity! Use press on nails with glue tabs! So the process of applying gel onto the nail is completely eliminated! No UV light whatsoever! I usually designed pressson nails beforehand and just apply glue tab on my natural nails! Problem solved!

My sister had a black gel polish which she bought maybe a year ago. She used to cure it with the same lamp that she uses now. A year ago she didn't have problems with it, but now the last time she applied it she had an uncured gel, wrinkles. My question is - do some soft, color gels get old with time and lose their curing ability? Or maybe this is only happening with cheap gel polishes?
@tomjones2157
@tomjones2157 Год назад
Yes cheap ones can have less photoinitator which evaporates over time. You can buy replacement photoinitator drops for gels usually called gel thinners. Or sometimes you just have to shake up the bottle for 5 minutes as the polish and photoinitator can separate in the bottle. Shaking can sometimes solve the problem.

my personal experience (and I'm an engineer) is that the higher wattage lamps is curing and functionality. My X11 max (66 led lamp) cured my CND and Meet Across gels with no issues, when I used a lower watt/6 led lamp I had to cure 8/10mins instead of 2mins, but it DID cure so I'm wondering if the reasons given (re UV lamp vs UV led) was ever tested/experimented.

Yes!!! you can leave a light layer... (as long as your not prepping for extensions ect.) actually ALLOT ( on RU-vid) leave a layer to do art over. Saves our nails !! I leave a small "overlay" of builder gel on mine. 💜💖💜

I often forget to cap the free edge, In fact I forget more often than I remember! 😩 I do think it makes a regular nail polish mani last longer, but gel polish lasts so well anyway, & I very rarely use regular polish now tbh... I almost always change my polish because I can see grow-out on my nails, or because I just want a change of colour, my gel polish lasts ages with or without my capping the free edge! 💯

Hi, I have a question for the next video: how long does live a 48w led lamp (not professional use - 2/3x per month) in average? I thought eternally... I have it for about a year and a half, but I started to have some problems with it, top coat doesn't shine as bright, darks colors shows wrinkled, thumb's external sides don't cure at all anymore .... 🙄🙄 It is a short time for this kind of lamps and the using times, don't you think? Spasiba for your answer 🙏
@tomjones2157
@tomjones2157 Год назад
The lights might be cheap polycarbonate which get dull over time which reduces light transmission. Time to buy another lamp. Or try doubling cure time. If the lights are glass or silicone they don't age out as the light stays consistent.

I really think you should have referred to Doug Schoon's findings with regards to some scientific questions. He is a nail scientist and has 3 books with questions like this. Replying based on your personal experience is not good advice for such questions as overcuring etc. You have a large following and I think you'll risk spreading miss-information. Your video was great but I think giving true information is vital. So many techs are doing things incorrectly because they don't understand the science. I love your channel but please, give factual responses. I hope I haven't upset you Anastasia 😘😘😘❤️❤️❤️
