Great video Ed. I believe there is an AI researcher that has been using AI to train people in curling strategy. I'd love to get my hands on tbis: Mr. Lelis trained an A.I. to come up with the best curling strategy, and now he’s figuring out the best ways to use its results to teach players. His most recent research shows that the program can make a decent coach. The key, he says, is that the program doesn’t just give the player the answer - where exactly to aim the stone - but also the justification. It shows you a similar but not quite identical scenario, and tells you how much worse that placement would be. He found that it was an effective teacher, but it has one shortcoming. It doesn’t adapt to the skill level of the person it’s teaching. “We only focus on strategy,” he said. “We do assume the person would be Olympic level.”
I'm actually okay with it referring to the front of the house as the part closest to the center line. The way I see it, the first few inches of the front of the house is basically the center line. As you get farther away from the very front of the house, you start to include more real estate that's farther away from the center line. Good bot!
New skip this season, I used chat GPT to print out a little notebook to remind me of the best/standard moves for different scenarios. Super helpful as a beginner skip! Thanks for your vids Ed! They are going to pull us out of "C" division this year! :D
