There are many habesha girls that want to know how to take of our hair and you making this video helps us understand our hair and improve it. Its so good to finally see someone that looks like me help improve my hair. Seeing this kind of representation for habesha community and the curly hair community is really exciting to see!
It’s really nice to hear someone saying that u don’t need to wash your hair every 3 weeks or something I feel like it’s the biggest myth in the curly hair community:)
@@sarabeqelehi, I have similar hair to yours. I can't figure out what my hair type is, it's so difficult. What is yours? Since mine is almost exactly if not exactly the same as yours, I think we may have the same type.
@@sarabeqelealso, what do you think is best, air drying or blow drying? I like to air dry, because I feel like the blow dry 's heat can damage my hair. But air drying is frowned upon so it seems, since it can cause fungus. Especially if you sleep with wet hair.
@@fyori7376it’s always better to use a blow dryer than sleep on wet hair. Everyone’s hair is different. If you do use a blow dryer use a heat protectant and use a low temperature:)
Love these tips! You just had the low and high porosity flipped. Low porosity has a hard to absorbing water and moisture but once it’s moisturized it holds on to that moisture while high porosity easily absorbs moisture but may have a hard time maintaining it.
Omggg! I didn’t even know that . I knew the difference between high and low prosperity I didn’t know that me having high prosperity hair meant my hair had a hard time retaining the moisture!!!? That MAKES SO MUCH SENSE NOW 😭😭😭😭 I was like okay… it floats so it’s high but i actually enxpected it to be low bc ik something was off and always wondered why doesn’t my hair holds its moisturize if it so easily takes it?! 🫣🤔🤦🏻♀️ Do you know any tips about how to help compensate for its struggle to stay hydrated??? I have short, thin, dull, & fragile hair but similar pattern to hers in the video. Sorry for the flood but I’m just 🤯 rn
PSA its low porosity when water dropper are apparent as the cuticles are more closed so it takes longer for the hair to get wet, for high porosity hair the water immediately soaks into the hair as the cuticles are more open so absorb water easily
One thing I noticed is that certain products that worked for my sister didn’t work for me. They would dry out my hair no matter how much product and water I used. I later found out that the products that dry out my hair ALL have dimethcone, and that I have low prosity while my sister has normal to high! So yeah thank you for making this video bc now I know 😤👍🏾✨
Low porosity is when it’s hard for water or products to get into the hair shaft. This hair porosity gets dry and brittle easily. I’m low porosity and must use steam or heat to help me keep moisture in my hair. I also need to perfectly balance conditioner (protein/conditioner). My hair loves and thrives on: Black soap as a shampoo Pattern Beauty shampoo Organic Root stimulator replenish conditioner Shea moisture manuka honey and yogurt conditioner Pattern Beauty Conditioner Kinky kurly knot today conditioner leave in conditioner. Ayurvedic herbs as a deep cleansing treatment That’s it!
As an habesha girl most girls in Ethiopia have long hair. Mine is like your but a bit longer always to moisturize your hair tho AND TRIM THOSE ENDS for anyone who’s reading this also put a scalp treatment everyday trust me.
Miss Jessies pillow soft curls! My goodness it smells like fresh linen/laundry. So clean, every time I use it someone asks what's in my hair that smells so good. I get it from target.
Yes your hair change and so you need different products. But for Shea Moisture they changed most of their recipe to cater to larger crowd that's why a lot of black people grew out of it
i’ve been working on my hair this 2023 and a product i use is the therapy session hair mask by eva nyc! i’ve been using your channel and others to improve my hair! i would love for you to test this product and lmk if it’s good or bad for your/my hair! this video was very helpful tysm!! 🤍
I definitely know the old hair smell 😂. And can relate to shea moisture styling products no longer working for my hair. I used to swear by the hair smoothie and OG soufflé but the smoothie is too heavy for my hair now and well the new formula of the soufflé is terrible. I still love the strength line and manuka hair mask
“I’ll kiss ya on your forehead!” 😂🤣😆🤪🤗 Dyin’’ of laughter, vibin’ off your positivity, pickin’ up what you puttin’ down, and feelin’ lucky at finding your channel!!! Beautiful inside and out- you go girl!!! Keep spittin’ that knowledge… much appreciated for this mama of a tender headed mini-me with never ending spirals upon ringlets upon corkscrews and then some- no joke 😳😱🤯🤷🏽♀️☺️😵💫👩🏽🦱🙏🏼
I have curly hair , they are really pretty on wash day but the next day the curls are not as curly and I want to know what do you do for routine. Do you wet your hair everyday ? I am a bit lost
You can section hair and spray it down with water to reactivate the product and/or add a bit more. I have the same issue. With working out, sweating, I just have no choice than to wash my scalp almost everyday.
Mielle Ginger overnight conditioner . Oh my Marc Anthony's leave in Apple scent Shea Moisture hair mask with apple cider. Amazing I use black Jamaican castor oil on my hair and eyebrow. Mielle sells out quickly in South Africa
when you say wash weekly do you mean like with shampoo, but conditioner and/or cowash are fine the rest of the week? I just found your channel from the hygiene tips vids but I got into the curly girl method last month! I have fine wavy hair and live in a place with very hard water but I'm scared to use clarifying shampoo once a week bc my hair is soooo dry and currently protein overloaded I think. I cowash and condition daily bc my hair gets greasy within 24 hours. I always hear ppl saying they only wash their hair once a week or whatever but I still don't understand what that means exactly?? like is cowash fine? sameeee on being sensitive to smell!! sucks for me bc I'm also sensitive to really artificial perfumey scents but I also hate smelling dirty at all. I hate the outside smell!! which is ironic bc I love going outside and being in nature but something about being inside with the outside scent on you just feels wrong lol I always need to shower immediately. I'm scared to try perfume bc I'm a broke girlie with a sensitive nose.
I dyed my hair twice blonde it damaged my curls I barely had any left my hair grew now the dyed bit is way at the bottom what would you recommend to cut that bit off or to keep growing my hair :)
Hi Sara, I don’t understand why, but I grew my hair to the end of bra strap, length, and for some reason it stopped, growing. I do see, shedding, and have noticed I have sores on my scalp. I use to do rice water treatments, cloves, etc.. Could you help me figure this out I really wish I could meet you in person for advice. Thank you hon.❤
When you talked about using mielle in your routine freshman year, are you saying you used the rosemary mint strengthening mask as a deep conditioner? Or is there a separate product that explicitly says it's a deep conditioner?
Would you say it is okay to wear your hair in 1,2, or 4 braids for a few days and then take them out as a braid out? I often wear 1 or 2 braids but i don't know if it is healthy for my hair too do it so Much so every now and then i do a wash n go to let my hair have a break just in case. But i am currently growing out my hair so i get worried if its in a wash n go it will break off even though my hair is healthy i just get scared it will break from rubbing on things
So my hair is really thick and it doesn't dry fast but in the front its a lot thicker! With that my roots are also puffy so when I wear my hair down it looks pretty weird and I don't know how to handle it, I've heard so many ways on how to but none of them are working. Is my hair dead ?
I wash my hair every week, I try to do it every Sunday because that has been my routine for years now and another thing is that my hair cannot stand some products for too long, like after a while I don't see that good effect it once had so I have to try another brand.
Believe or not it's the first time I get a like from the creator I feel like I completely an accomplishment oh and it's the first time that I am first too
Am I allowed to do twists even though I’m not African ? Bcc I did it once and it hydrated my hair very well but everyone told me I can’t do bcc it’s cultural appropriation
Black people just lovr to gate-keep and they’re narcissist , its just hair, they also culture appropriate but dont get called out for it, so go ahead sis, if anyone says something those are just miserable people, a nice black person wouldnt care
