I have remainder from Lewisburg Pa. Heritage lists the images as anonymous bank officals. One is clearly Simon Cameron, Lincoln's future secretary of war.
Seriously really great notes. In my opinion you really pick out interesting notes. The Canal Bank really did it right with the reverses. That 1840s $20 from Canal Bank reverse looks like a front! And had to confirm with the Kelly Book that is in fact a 'bust' of Alexander Hamilton - that's a first for me seeing him portrayed that way especially when with Washington on the other side not looking so regal! Thanks for sharing. I'm jealous but so great to see obsolete notes.
Thank you! There really is no shortage of what to collect when it comes to US paper money. I try to mix it up every once in a while - my primary focus has been on "early issue" notes, like series 1963 and earlier, but have always enjoyed the obsoletes as well. Depending on what and how you collect, the obsoletes can be pretty expensive, but the examples I showed in this video are definitely not too cost prohibitive ; ) The Canal Bank from that period has really exceptional designs and colors plus the French language on the back...that deserves a side bar. I agree, the bust of Hamilton is a weird one-off!
