Very nice minis! I actually ran Death House, reversed and outside of Curse of Strahd: My players TPKed to a group of vampire spawns, so I had them wake up in the dungeon at the end of Death House, having been practically comatose and used as vampire snack for a month or two ... And so they had to fight their way out of the Death House! ;)
You guys sure make these WizKid sets a compelling buy .... I'm sold! The facial details on these premiere minis are sooooooo improved over the standard WizKids sets. And finally, I love these Strahdish minis so much, I think I wanna run CoS again for my group. Albeit with new objectives!
Yeah, the faces have really come a long way! And yeah, I think CoS is such a classic because it can be run multiple times in entirely different ways and still be a blast each time. Glad you enjoyed the video! -Theo
I started the fight with Strahd in the 1986 "Master of Ravenloft" gamebook. I haven't started a new campaign in years but now there are lots of minis and material, it's time for my players to get mopped by Strahd (like he did to Minsc and the characters of the D&D "Shadows of the Vampire" comic books).
Congrats to the contest winner! I hope you get some of the minis you want from it, it's really an awesome set! I am definitely getting both boxes of the Ravenloft minis as soon as they come out, I'm definitely going to break down and buy the collectors ed of COS when it comes out as well, I really hope Wizkids will release a few more COS mini sets because there are sooooo many awesome characters to be found in that adventure!!! Lastly my respect for Grady has doubled for ending the dream pie business with purpose, my paladin highly approves!!!
Just ordered this set - love the hags, lots of character in each one! About to run the Old Bonegrinder so will have to sub Bella Sunbane mini for one that won’t set my players off right away, a minor illusion to disguise her appearance.
My DM tried tricking me into getting Curse of strand for my very first campaign. I know it is a Challenging campaign not Ideal for new DM’s. When I told him I’m waiting until I have more experience. He smiled and said that some people get excited and buy everything for one campaign then get overwhelmed give up and usually give it to their friend. Talk about lawful evil!!!
I had only wished they used some characters that deserved minis more. The Argynvostholt factions, the Kolyanivich siblings, and maybe Izek and other Vallaki NPC. Definitely deserved minis more than Rose and Thorn, who you see for one dungeon before they disappear
Another great review! I like these but yeah, they would be hard to use in any capacity other than in Curse of Strahd. Still, it would be fun to buy both boxes, maybe get the Beadle & Grimm's set, and go all in on a giant Strahd campaign!
I think I like this set even more than the other. All of the paint jobs in both sets are fantastic. My group is on pause from Strahd while I DM LMoP. Since we started Strahd somewhere in the middle with our characters at L10 I have no idea which if any of these minis would be useful and since they are so specialized it's probably not worth getting the sets.
I’m really keen for these and it’s great that these iconic NPCs are in miniature form. But... I do wish they brought out more of the NPCs that you are likely to end up in combat with. Like those from Vallaki especially Izek. Another few boxes would be ideal, one for Vallaki, another for the important denizens of Castle Ravenloft and of course one containing Ismark and Ireena and more of the common allies and enemies not easily represented in the miniature range. There’s a bad need for Flocks of Ravens and the like in miniature form for example.
My campaign starts Monday. My guess is it won’t be too long. My players have a tendency to rule head first into danger and refuse to run away. So Old Bone Grinder might be....rough for them
The legends I will pick up. This one I won't. (No spoiling) If I wanted a mini for the abbot and the sisters it would be a different minis. I would prefer either werewolves, the mad mage or actually any one who could be the groups ally.
Grady and I are the same. I was NOT a fan of that old woman selling her pies. I used my whip around her ankle to trip her while she was carting her pies away.
@@TheGallantGoblin Lot of things are going on in my life and in the world right now. I am hoping my health gets better so I could go out and be able to do all I want to do. Also hope the chaos of the world ends, so I do not have to leave my home in fear. Would love to be able to play at my local game store with my friends, but with all that is going on, I have not been able to do that.
It's about the normal price per mini that we've seen for prepackaged, medium-sized painted minis. So this pack isn't *more* expensive that what we're used to. But definitely look for sales! You can often pick up singles on the aftermarket as well if you don't need the whole set. -Theo
