@@gaminggeek241 Do you paint to a higher standard sometimes ? Or is it only for gaming purposes ? I'm asking because I'm trying to get better at painting but I also want stuff to be painted, and it's putting a mental block where at some point I cba to paint more details etc.
@@Azharok88 Yes, some exceptional minis I do paint more slowly with the use of layering and highlighting. I spent six hours on each of my space marines for my Space Hulk 3rd ed. set. But these days, I receive games with anywhere from fifty to hundreds of minis so I now just use mostly Contrast colors to speed paint. My motto is, "a poorly painted mini is better than grey plastic." But if you aren't buying new games every month like I am, I would suggest taking your time and learning at your own pace and at the level that makes you happy. It's a hobby meant to give you joy.
I wonder if the real situation is someone at GW actually sat down and played the game, and was like "We are charging money for this? WHAT? GET THE MINIS OUT OF THESE BOXES AND SHUT THE REST OF IT DOWN!". I have not seen any particularly glowing reviews of the system. But yeah, Warcry is Dope.
Hi! I really appreciate your comments for their sincerity. After spending $ 200 on miniatures, spending hours painting them, studying the rules and building those great scenery, well it's hard to be that honest when you say the game sucks. And I greatly appreciated this sincerity. I would like to ask you what you think of Games Workshop's Lord of the Rings / Hobbit game, also in its skirmish variant (Battle Companies). Also I'd like to ask you what you think of Mantic's Dungeon Saga, after applying the errata / FAQ to Adventurer's Compendium. Thank you!
Thanks Giovanni! I have never played LotR so I can't really give an opinion about it. I was an original backer of Mantic's Dungeon Saga and didn't like it (too simple) so I sold my copy--I never played with the errata/FAQ. Shadows of Brimstone is my favorite Warhammer Quest (original) replacement game. Chronicles of Drunagor also sounds good--they are currently doing their second crowdfunder right now. Hope that helps!
It's okay . I never even got the chance to grab Cursed City , thanks all the same. It seems to be GW's business model at the moment to completely under stock their latest games and releases so you're practically guaranteed disapoiment from the get go unless you've got serious insider knowlege with these things. It seriously pisses me off.
I've been told that its a progression game and that the first mission is supposed to be easy. Just kinda interesting how many people are up in arms about it and how badly they want to change it after just playing one game and one game only. I can completely understand if you have 'beaten' the game or have played several missions, but to instantly want to change it after one game is pretty disappointing.
Totally agree, you shoulden't judge a boardgame aflter a single game, mostly a dice based game. This is a narrative and family game, it has some flaws, but it does what it's expected to do. Imho it's great to play with kids or new gamers, whatever mod you do it'not going to be a game for competitive hardcore gamers!
At first I was excited to get this game but after watching this video I felt relieve I didn't get. Sir you are a modern day SUPERHERO in my gaming budget!!!
Have you tested these changes to see how they scale up and have you completed the game because I have mixed reviews on this and everyone's experience is different. I also think that these variants are bloating this game with more rules for what it is. The key thing to fix in this game is the Hunt missions and you can do that by simply placing the hostile card face up once slained rather than face down and spawning at random as this will keep things moving quicker
I would also like to know if these changes are still balanced at lvl 3-5. I really like the shortend missions, but dislike the challenge cards, because I hate to constantly remember effects/rules although imI think the idea that fear and influence actually have an impact 👍
Amazing, fan-support does a better job at fixing the game then the game developer/company itself. ::channeling guy calling State Farm at 3am:: "Well, it's Games Workshop, so..."

Meh, I like it, but it's nice to have another take. I also liked Drive thu rpg's thoughts on it. I think the key is knowing what you're buying --- WHQ games, at least from silver tower onward, are very much a feel-good, beer and pretzels kind of vibe, where the theme and lore are almost key to your enjoyment. I can play loads of other games for better gameplay, and have them ready to go if that's what I feel down for, but WHQ is just more comfy to me. In regards to houserules, there are a few simple ones that fix problems throughout without needing to print off new cards or whatnot, but the community support is awesome as an option. All in all, with like 2 easy houserules the game is like a 7/10, but the theme/lore/ect bring it up to an 8 for me, pretty much in line with past WHQ installments.
I get what you're saying, and respect your opinion, Having played it for the first time last night with my SO. I just go bored of it, enemies spawn on the otherside of the map, run up to the them, chop em down without taking any damage, rinse repeat. There was no "threat" playing the first hunt scenario. Zombicide on the other hand was better at providing a challenge.
I’d you think you wasted the money please sell it as so many of us got totally screwed by the deplorable GW release tactics they pulled on this release. Not only were these models VERY anticipated by painters but also the greater age of sigmar community. Congrats on getting a copy!
Thanking those that "dislike" your video made me laugh (I still "liked" your video). I'd have to say that the main attraction of GW is not the miniatures; it's the lore which is deep and vast. It's too bad that they seem to be very flighty with their games - constantly creating new ones, letting them disappear, revising and obviating old games, etc. Betrayal at Calth, Burning of Prospero, Dreadfleet, Aeronautica Imperialis (is this game dead as well?), etc. It is true that they seem to make games that sell miniatures rather than gameplay. Space Hulk is pretty awesome (once I get the Aliens miniatures from the new meh-Aliens game, I'm replacing all the genestealers).
Did they drop Aeronautica already? Didn't that come out last summer? Yeah, I like their lore as well and there is a good amount of it in the Scenario book of Cursed City.

1. Middara 2. Shadows of Brimstone 3. Gloomhaven I like a good story in my DCs. I just received Destinies so am looking to make a review video of that in a couple weeks. I also played Chronicles of Drunagor but I like the above three better. I'm looking forward to getting Tanares Adventures and Descent: Legends of the Dark later this year. I finished Sword and Sorcery so don't feel a need to replay. I don't have Hellboy.

Appreciate your video. A person should not have to fix a games rules just to play it. For me that would feel like cheating. I might as well just make my own game. Pretty obvious that GW must not have done much play testing or just didn’t care to change the rules. Thank for the great video
I love Warcry, Bloodbowl also! But was looking to get a game that me and both my boys can play cooperatively together. After reading the rule book, I havnt really figured out what to do, its still sitting in the box on spru, was hoping to adopt it to an actual table setting with terrain etc
Dungeon Crawl is a fun and simple ruleset that you can play with your sons using the minis from Cursed City--I made a video about it and it is print and play for only $15.

I played this too. It has great minis, but is an awful game. League of Infamy on the other hand, is a great game, but with awful minis (the minis are nice sculpts, but are made of PVC and are pre-assembled ... and not particularly well). Mantic did send me replacements for the really bad ones though.
Hi, I'm looking for a game for two players, preferably cooperative. We are playing the old Hero Quest at the moment (only 2 missions left) very casually maybe once or twice a month. Hero Quest hast the same problem, since the Heroes have good equipment the Missions have become quite boring. I wanted to get Cursed City but after watching this video I'm not sure. What we are looking for: Hero progression (level/equipment) all in one Box (expansions are ok if optional) Cooperative play cool Miniatures gaming sessions not longer than 1-2 hours does blackstone fortress have the same problem ?
Blackstone Fortress is a good option--I like it better than Cursed City. It includes more tactics on the board but the hero progression isn't that deep. Shadows of Brimstone has very good hero progression and tons of loot that scales better but you should definitely use Hex Crawl (in the file section on Board Game Geek) to tie in an overall narrative. Middara has a great story line and deep hero progression but I don't know how easily you can buy a copy right now. Sword and Sorcery scales well for 2 players but it has the most complex rules out of all the games I'm mentioning here. Out of all of these, for two players, I would suggest Shadows of Brimstone first, then Middara, then Sword and Sorcery. Hope that helps!
Tiles are 1.5" and are from Dragon's Rest (see my video for my HeroQuest board). He is currently working on a custom board specifically for Cursed City so stay tuned!
Where can you purchase the cards that fixed the game? Like stat cards ect...in a card format that is thick and looks like it came with the game? Thank you so much!
I printed it on 110lb cardstock. I don't know who can print them professionally so that they are the same as the ones that come in the box--might want to search for online printing.

Easiest and quickest fix is to give a player full control of the hostiles, allow them to activate them and coordinate their attacks. This way they can try to ambush and pounce on the heroes. The game has nothing that blocks line of sight, and only 1 ranged attack hostile. No wonder the game is boring, it offers very little challenge. Edit, nice paint jobs on your stuff!
@@gaminggeek241those two games seem very situated in their lore, where Nightwatch basically says "make four hunters and decide what horror they are hunting" and the narrative and specific miniatures are mostly yours to decide. I found the game fast and low on book-keeping and arithmetic during play. It's simple and flexible.
Loving the support everyone is giving the game and the content makers! Good to see others making content too! Hopefully we get to see official expansions for the game, fingers crossed.

How can a company be so great at doing minis and so bad at game design? Really weird... Maybe they should outsource their board games or buy up one of the better game studios. They sure do have the money for that. Or just hire and pay the dude that fixed their game in like a few weeks, he sure seems to derserve it.
Because they don't need to care about game play or rules. They have a very loyal fan base who will buy anything with a GW logo on it. GW are a miniatures company, that uses games to promote and generate sales of the miniatures.
I started getting into Gaming about 2 years ago. I am so, so glad I have stayed away from GW. I don't use their paints, I haven't bought their games and I seem to be happier for it. Could you imagine if they just reprinted War Hammer Quest classic. Don't change anything... they would make a lot of money.. but they pump out junk like this.
Glad I dont buy GW products anymore, but its always disappointing to see your ex still being batsh** crazy. LOL. I keep looking at different minis and looking to see if its worth delving back in and then I hear the way that the company operates still and wonder why in hell the company is still alive lol
