8:10 Didn't freeze, your controls were disabled because there's a trigger volume to stop you from usually driving the Warthog up that hill too far, and Bungie's hack was just to disable your controls so you'd, in theory, slide back down.

InfernoPlus' video on making it/the features goes a bit into how he had to abuse the engine to make it work - assumably the coop code calls aren't designed for someone to have both forced camera and called animations. For example (I don't know if it's been patched), the "Inverted" Normal Pistol rotated both screens even if only one player has it.
