The idea of consuming ammo to heal sounds like a banger game mechanic, specially in a doom like/quake like game where ammo management already is part of the appeal and challenge Edit: so a bunch of these are kinda cool, definitely gonna save this video, super cool
Naw I’ll do you one better what about if you have a ton of ammo but no grenades what if you can sacrifice I lump sum of ammo to get a grenade it whould make sense cause you can take out the gun powder from the bullets and I bet you need a bunch of gunpowder hence the lump sum of bullets you sacrifice
Something which should perhaps not be underestimated is that some of these healing animations do not address physical health, but mental health. Both are important to avoid future trauma.
I could imagine these all being in a game, randomly selected each time like far cry, but each have different properties. Like the instant self-dart-shot being rare, or the airpods regenerating your health until you take damage, or FIGHT THROUGH THE PAIN being AOE as well
It would actually be really cool to see a game where healing animations like these were in the game. It could be like a system where trying to heal in a dangerous situation is a gamble because of the various different speeds of the animations. I would think it would have a slightly higher change to end up being a shorter animation then a longer one making it a risk that's worth taking.
I wish more games would be open to spending some of their animation/art budget on getting creative and humorous like this. One of the standout things I like about the battlefield series is their Easter egg reload animations- more games should do that, and be more open to making them cheeky like these ideas you have. Seeing stuff like that band-aid kiss / counting the days on the pill box animation would make me crack up if I saw it in game. As a guerrilla marketing technique the company could even slyly increase the likelihood of those sorts of animations happening during “make it or break it” publicity moments- eg when a game is having its first pro tournament, or when it’s released in early access and they’re starting to pay streamers to show it off. Having those cool animations pop up would make for such an easy W as a marketer, they’re so clippable and shareable.
He even moves and shoves the square in the hole with that aggressive, clean tactical style of movement. Captures that very well. The operation board was also painful
you'd be amazed what can be edited. and I believe he means that the motions are obviously not edited but what is happening obviously, you don't eat a gosh darn bullet.@@Sillymaxing
I love how the editing makes it seem like this person is just trying everything they can to not die, but each solution only works for a half a second before he has to try again
Lol brilliant 😂 after hearing Fenix giving you words of encouragement, I felt like I need to say that would help but now it also worries me that if the enemy knew about that, they could try using psychological warfare by using the most heart breaking moment in the gears of war series to break our morale, the moment dom died and Marcus calling out his name and also at 0:44 that healing animation reminded me of Battlefield Friends whenever Noob wanted to change class or get more ammo 😂 so thank you for this
You know how some games give healers healing guns, usually just to be aimed at allies? I now want the healer class of that type to be able to do the animation at 0:42 for self healing
Doc from Rainbow 6 Siege literally has a medicine pistol and not only can he shoot his allies with it he can also shoot himself with it in an animation (though only on the arm)
3:30 I hope someone gets inspired by this and makes a post-apocalyptic RPG where you actually have the option to get health back instantly on the battlefield by playing Operation on yourself to extract the bullets and shrapnel lodged into your flesh. But touch the sides and you'll get more damage until you die. A good skill based risk reward mechanic I would say. Available equipment and consumables could also affect how easy the on-site Operation would be or how much health you get after.
I think fallout could be the best choice by doing the operation on your pip boy but sadly fallout doesn't seems to have any healing animation since healing only works by eating or drinking something
Imsgine if there were medicine books to make the mini game easier, buff it, and if you got more health or less risk of infection in sanitized environment or indoors
the sound design mixed with your understanding of the cameras perspective is masterful, super well done! the polar express reference made me lose it lol
i think it'd fit perfectly in a horror game or something like fallout. you gotta clean your wound or something and be careful or you'll take a bit more damage, but if you do it really well you can get a bonus
The little apprehensive sigh before some of the more unpleasant ones is a SUPER nice touch. Made a bunch of them for me. Excellent work good sir! I grant upon thee...a grilled cheese. You'll have to make it though, i've not mastered the whole food teleportation thing. Last time I ended teleporting bread for 3 days!
The way the hand holding the Operation game while ragdolling waved around was SO specific and hilarious. That one got and actual Laugh Out Loud from me.
(3:31) Yeah! The whole ragdoll reenactment(?) was absolutely spot on and just so Bethesda/Creation Engine-like; it's amazing. Now, the only thing topping that would be if he'd suddenly (but comically) start spazzing out to the point where he eventually becomes airborne-because, for some reason, his leg is stuck clipping through the door/wall/floor.
5:23 I can totally see this as a Duke Nukem healing animation lol Karl, if you ever finish a game that uses these animations we will be forever grateful lol
The aggressive chatter of Perfection brought back some repressed childhood memories. Thank you, sir The Polar Express one brought back some happy ones, too
How hilarious but insane would it be to have a game with those healing animations and weapons Karl already showcased and performed? The dream has to come true!! Love your videos man
I pushed the "Like" button for this video because of two beautiful cats starring in it. Please show more of them, I love cats(especially big and fluffy ones - they feel like clouds with legs when you hug them).
My favorite bit is how when he rag dolls it spawns another helmet to become a physics prop despite his staying glued on. Truly a lovingly crafted shitpost
0:18 imagine that in a videogame where you're a windup soldier toy and every level has a time limit, instead of enemies damaging you it would be a lot of enemies slowing you down and wasting your time. There would be heal stations across that would have that as an animation.
There's some animations here that could be some rare heal animations in a lot of games, like the band-aid kiss or petting a cat. I can also picture a beast type character eating a first aid kit when every other character just uses its contents and throws away.
I like the idea of these being healing items in a game where there's a lot of mixing between stealth and combat... And they're just as loud as they actually would be, so some of them are absolutely silent, while sometimes, you're just playing a motivational speaker (of sorts, lol) on a tape recorder!
They're all good, but I think my personal favourite is where he has to take precise medication so he has to remember which day it is before taking the pill otherwise he'd probably get worse.
me and my friend were watching this video on the bus in the morning and were laughing at these but right as we were thinking of turning something else on the peanut butter one popped up, and at first we were wondering what you were going to do with it , probably eat it right, but no when you smeared that peanut butter on your arms we burst out laughing and didn't stop for minutes, great video dude nice animations.
6:30 ironically a cat's purr actually stimulates the body's natural healing mechanisms. Something about the vibrational frequency just kicks all of your healing into overdrive. It lowers stress markers too. You don't even have to be in physical contact either. The effect is steering enough that just being in the same room as a happy cat can measurably lower your blood pressure.
Note: It's medicine for the brain, it won't actually do shit on your physical state, what helps is feeling better mentally, and then your body works better to heal itself.
hmmm.... I could ask for sources, which I know I wouldn't actually go and dig deep into it and rely on others to do it for me... Or I could just assume its facts and not ask questions... I'll take the latter.
0:50 reaaaally love the boo boo kissy bye-bye healing animation 1:06 omg the arm one is fantastic. 2:15 some of these are actually really great ideas for cyborgs or Transformers or whatever. Like imagine using a can of engine cleaner and spraying spent oil out of your arm pistons here. Or the one where you use a ratchet on your palm. 3:31 Omg the way I literally shouted at this one 3:57 WAIT IS THAT A HOSPITAL??? That’s such a rad idea for like a candy-themed big healing consumable. 4:12 lmaoooo health is tied to belief in Christmas 4:55 WOW, you nailed the way they fall ass-first and fold backwards dude, that’s amazing 5:30 “press h to heal” wow 5:41 WAAAA THIS IS SO AWESOOOOME 7:48 fantastic. 8:11 uh oh! Stinkyyy
