CURTIUS REARRANGEMENT COMPLETE CONCEPT FOR CSIR NET/GATE/IIT JAM/JEE 

In this lecture I have discussed Curtius rearrangement in detail. Thermal or Photochemical conversion of Acyl azides to isocyanate is called Curtius rearrangement. The key step in the Hofmann and Curtius rearrangments is migration of a carbon atom to displace a leaving group on an adjacent nitrogen. This rearrangement has immense application in organic synthesis.
