And how to make ripple editing in a piano roll, so that when you move one note, all notes on the right would move? Thank you

Is it possible to place the play cursor at some point - Make a cut Move a little far and then [ CUT again, but also remove everything before the cursor on the same track] ?

Or, another cool and simple trick is to assign a key shortcut to the action : cycle through ripple editing modes

I think this is a default. Alt + P I think.

Hey Kenny, great video! Is there a way to create crossfades after the ripple edit occurs? I noticed that when performing this custom action the two clips that are newly butted up against one another have a fade out and fade in (clip 1 fade out; clip 2 fade in). This there a way so that when it does ripple it creates a crossfade? I have tried various configurations using the SWS extensions which work, but they apply ripple editing with crossfades to all tracks only. I'd really love to use this custom action with the addition of a crossfade instead of fade in fade out. Is there any way to do this? This would be amazing! Cheers!

As a person who recently did some ripple editing and then forgot to turn it off and might have screwed up a project by accident, this is very handy. However, i would be afraid to use these custom actions by accident and thus ripple edit by accident. I might consider finding a way to use regular ripple editing mode, but adding a way to see the ripple edit function turned on clearly (so that i don't forget to turn it off). EDIT : the script discussed in the following thread is quite handy also, and could be added in a custom action when you do ripple edit : forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=236201 Since my problem with the original "ripple" button is that you forget to turn it off when you're done, i just added another button next to it (with the "nuke" red icon), and this button triggers a custom action that i named "Custom: Cycle ripple editing mode and ripple visualization", which has the two following actions : Options: Cycle ripple editing mode Script: amagalma_Distinguish visually the ripple editing modes.lua I also swapped the "Alt + P" shortcut from the original "Options: Cycle ripple editing mode" action, to this new action. This way, if i use my regular shortcut to cycle ripple editing, i now have the obvious ripple visualization (from "Script: amagalma_Distinguish visually the ripple editing modes.lua") on the items that lets me know that i'm in ripple mode, and if i'm tempted to click on the default "ripple editing mode" button on the taskbar, i have a bright red button next to it that reminds me i should use the keystroke or this other button instead. Of course the best way would be to have only one button with the new action, and that changes icons just like the original "ripple editing mode", but it seems nobody has found a way to do changing icons so far.

I'd say add ridiculous 3 key modifiers to void doing it by accident

When I go to Preferences/Mouse modifiers/Media item bottom half and click on the default action 'Pass through to item click context' I get a completely different set of behaviours and dont see any of the ones you show in the video - I get things like 'Select Item', 'Select Item ignoring grouping', 'select item and move edit cursor' etc but none of yours. ??
