I agree. It was difficult as a kid not seeing dolls or princesses that looked like me. It almost brings me to tears. Ariel was abc still is my favorite! He did a beautiful job!!!

Unpopular Opinion: The pink dress is perfect because it showcases the awkwardness of Ariel’s situation and further emphasizes how out of her element she is. The dress doesn’t suit her just as much as she doesn’t suit being on land.
@@keylianettenerys2997 Disney didn't invent the mermaid design in the first place. The original Little Mermaid (who didn't even have a name) was only described as having a "clear complexion, blue eyes and a tail." And the original author, H.C. Anderson, was a pretty progressive writer for his time, so I'm sure he wouldn't have minded a change in skin color anyways; I'd imagine he'd be more irritated by Disney changing the entire storyline in their first movie.
Fun fact: mermaids only have wrinkly tails when they're fry. As they grow up & form their humanoid upper body their tail smooths out & has a more human skin look. The whole process of a mermaid coming to full form takes about 45 years(lol so actually Ariel is in her early 60's 😹)

@@Aquariumbowl that Information is completely wrong. As someone with naturally curly hair that is now 3 months into my Loc journey. Dreads(locs) are not braids. Braids are braids. locs and braids are 2 different protective styles and for you to say locs aren’t your real hair once again please get the information right before trying to educate someone. Locs are dreadlocks and both names means the same thing

And you forgetting the usually part means nothing you are still wrong . I have locs not braids. They put braids for faux locs but for real locs that grow out your head no they aren’t braids. Braids are once again a different protective style. Locs are if anything twists that have to keep getting re-twisted.
Don't worry, Hex. You're definitely not alone in your love for her OG pink ballgown. As much as I adore her new green & purple gown, the pink one will always be special to me. Personally, I think people would like it a lot more if the main color was a coral-y peach (or just pastel peach to contrast with her hair's fiery red tone) and the white sections were opalescent.
They had reasons for it they did her hair more than once she wanted to keep her locs and they didn’t want to damage her hair so they did it the healthiest they could and wanted to flatter her skin tone I can’t say I don’t wish it would have happened but as a hairstylist I see why they went that route I also think part of it was to work with the setting and how they were making the movie maybe

When going from cartoon to live action the characters should at least resemble each other. If you want a totally different character then make a totally different movie. Just my opinion, I guess everyone is entitled to one BIISH.

Personally, I like the mint/seafoam/teal version you see in Disney Princess brand stuff now. But that's totally a preference, and there's nothing wrong with the pink dress
Jokes on Disney marketing, I got both the green and pink dresses on the dolls as a kid. I love both, but I lean towards green because of my love of cool tones.

Can we just appreciate how much work Hextian puts into the dolls? Hand-placing 100's--sorry--1,000's of scales? Immaculate. Fun fact: mermaiding is a real career and can be practiced, Most professional mermaids or just people who enjoy the hobby are used to: water getting up their nose, water getting in their eyes, and holding their breath for a long time I think that it's gonna be filmed like that kinda, y'know?
It's totally amazing how when people persist, something once thought of as impractical, has now become a cool and normal form of employment. I'll note one of our local athlete recalling his youthful days of competing in bodybuilding. He said at times the prizes were something useful like a canteen or compass, but now medals, world recognition and endorsements are some things awarded to winners, Also in my country, the government usually throws a parade, visits to schools and of course a brand new home.

Flounder is actually a blue angel fish! He's simply named after a different species of fish. Whilst Sebastian is a hermit crab! The fact you chose a rock crab (dungeness crab) for his base is hilarious and honestly amazing. I feel like adding the tinsel to the hair gave her not only more depth but the sensation that her hair is damp! She's definitely my favourite doll you've done so far besides princess morebucks. Keep making what you love, seeing your dolls drastic changes from their start to finish is always the best. May the fates be on your side Hex, you're a goddess. 😌🤌🏼

My favorite princess was Mulan, I always looked up to Pocahontas being part Blackfoot and my favorite Disney movie was Aladdin.
I really like how the resin glitter actually gives the figure some skin texture as well as the sparkle! Makes it seem more realistic than a boring flat plastic.
