That is quite the upgrade!! It turned out great. You definitely seem like one of those people who are the happiest when they have a project on the go. I am glad you have found something to keep you busy (like you don't have enough to do lol).
Asa, is there wire on the side where you put the blueish floor tiles? If not, you need to put some there too. A raccoon can tear through that with ease. You can see a little gap in between one of the tiles. You would be amazed what a raccoon can get through.
Love the clear roof perfect as that side of the house is so shaded. Would love to see a little run for them to use once in a while like when you are gardening etc Love that you are making yourself a little oasis of hyper focus fun. Hope that with Abbie’s placement ending that you will be able to have me time and that you guys are able to find her something soon.
Holy crapazoids Asa😮 awesome job...love how you're meticulous with your construction...i was waiting to see pictures on the walls, full bath and a tv...then I realized they can probably see the bar tv lol...no, honestly though in all seriousness, you did and outstanding job...you missed your calling...well done👏👏👏👏👏
When I was a kid my brother had homing pigeons, I can't remember who helped him build his coupe Since our dad was killed. It was amazing to go sit and hear them coo. Also learning about how they learned to fly home from miles.
I think you schould enclose the bottom & give them a lower level, then they'll have shade on the bottom. They'll be cooking with no shade in the summer.. Also there's alot of birds in there, give them more space!
Agreed. Especially if there's male and female, they need space to move away, the males can terrorise them. Regarding the roof, even if it's shady it's still not appropriate roofing, also with the heavy rainy they get in Florida it will be so loud, it will stress them out. However, it's definitely better than what they had.
I never realized raising quails was a thing. Thought they were just birds and not birds that humans benefit from. I know people who eat their eggs. I’ve seen them in the store and they are tiny. You have to do a video on how to crack them. 😊
The girls are likely to pick on each other as the boys are to pick on the girls. If one of your hens is a bit smaller or not quite physically correct, the rest of the flock will drive at them and pick at them. I love your new coop Asa. I so relate to your desire to grow things and make things and all of that. Everyone from the south has some farmers blood I do believe. A great job buddy.
@@moremaass You're very welcome Asa.. I've watched y'all long enough to know you've done your research lol They WILL be fine with a clear roof........🤣 Damn calm down people I assure you that he will do what's best lol 🤷♀️
Ive watched fathering autism from day 1. We have had chickens and turkeys and what i would say is you need to put board on the back and side because they need it to be weather resistant. It would be horribke when wind is going through. Also that middle section of the floor needs flooring. Then if you put some perches in there. In the summer be prepared to put a dark coloured sheet on the roof so they have shade, then also in the winter we have put quilts on the top to help insulate the coop so they dont get cold. I live in the UK but this all does still apply in florida too
will the quails have some kind of lightly abrasive surface that they can walk around on, to keep their tiny claws short? won't the transparent roof sizzle the birds or is there no direct sun there? i feel i can ask questions so you can teach me. i learn about autism and now quail keeping!
The Quail mansion looking good Asa. Have no idea on keeping any type of bird, sure you will have plenty of tips in comments. When your mom and step-dad come maybe they can give you some advice and tips too. One question is bird waste added to your composter good for growing veggies ? Blessings.
Asa You are Soo Creative! I Love it, You did a Great Job👍Its much Bigger than the other one, They seem to Love it😀I was just saying You didn"t Post up today, then I saw this Video. Yaay🙌I got to see you
Will they have more space soon? That’s a very small cage for that many birds. :( Can’t imagine being a bird stuck in a small cage forever……please build them a running area.
Im thinking peel and stick tiles or a roll of vinyl (?) Flooring. Makes for easy clean up. You probably finished by now but just my thought process. I pauded the video so you may have done this already lol😂
This is awesome. I had chickens and the hens also have a pecking order. They will beat up on each other too. It may not be the males doing it, it may be the stronger girls pecking at them too. Hope this helps.
Also when you want the boys to fertilize add a girl or few over there in the boys coop so you know which eggs are fertilized unless you want to do them all or guess. So much more info but Ill leave it at this for now. Its so much fun.
Why don't your record over night or something to find out which make has the behavioral issues. I mean you do have alot of camera ans I'm sure everyone has a record button
love the job you did, but i wouldnt put bird pee and crap into the compost bc if you are going to use that to garden with like some people do that wouldn't be to healthy, something about bird pee and crap just isn't good for you to have in your veggies and fruits, if its just flowers and plants that fine
Fun fact, birds don’t actually pee. It all comes out at the same time. Quail poop is high in nitrogen so it’s a very hot item to put in the compost. It’s perfectly fine though if it’s in the compost long enough. Rabbit poop is the best though. It can go straight into the garden soil.
I think you need to move soon, because your Backyard is only that big. We had the same Problem, so we moved, and now we have 5 Acres, my Husband has a Tractor, and I have Chickens, and we are all happy. And he builds things non stop!
He can't just let them be free.. Quail will most definitely fly away... Also says while cleaning their cages to be careful they don't get out... Also that area doesn't get a lot of sun as he specified before
Free range birds are not permitted and quail fly. 12 birds in a space big enough to house 16. The trees above and on the Northside of a 2 story house is considerable shade. That's why I chose the clear roof...so they would get enough light.
