I designed this in Fusion 360 but you'll recognize the Saunders Modular vise (hobby). The result is not bad for a first functional project. This process was plagued with Electrical interference, so that will be my next project.
Sorry but, If I speed it up any faster, it might cause epilepsy.

How did they hold up? What type of aluminum have you used ? Im looking forward to build a paurt my self but i don't now avout the longevity of aluminum

I've only used it a couple times and it's worked for the light work I'm doing. The interesting thing is that you can exert enormous power with the top screws but the vice is only as strong as the screws that connect it to the bed. I can see those screws are digging into the aluminum. 6061

What tool are you using for planing? It looks like a wood planing bit, I've throught about using one of those on aluminum but thought it would break as it is probably not made for it...

just out of curiosity how is clamping pressure achieved?

the second half (not yet tightened to fixture plate) moved up against the item to be held. With the large screws slightly loosed the second half is screwed to the fuxture plate. Now, by tightening the conical 1/2inch screws on top of one side it will create a sideways (and somewhat downward pressure) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4_kYYKfqaDg.html
