This is the Intro chapter of this (current) 6-part mini-series on the various Eurorack Modular Cases I have designed and built myself, or the couple of commercial options I purchased early in My Modular Journey.
Come have a laugh with me as I struggle to find "that Perfect Design" over the last 3 years. Episodes premiering daily the first week of May 2024!

This is the Intro video to the "mini-series" I have been working on for what feels like years...! All the episodes are fairly short, but show a glimpse into my struggle trying to find the perfect modular case 🙂 There are 7 videos in all, 2 premiering tonight, and the rest will roll out over the next 5 days. As always, thank you so much for indulging my little obsession! Next chapter: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zXWP892hYUU.html

Very interesting! I'm an toying with the same idea myself.... I am currently a6 six Rackbrute 6U...and it is full...and close to the powerlimits of the cases. An interesting deliberation would be picking the right PSU and bussboards (and other power related components) - because if I end up building a giant case - I would want it to have more than enough power to avoid "module power tetris" as I have to do now with the Rackbrutes. In one of the pictures - it seems to feature an "armrest" at the front of the case. I was thinking about this as well (idea from large console mixing desks) - would be nice with a lightly padded, maybe leather covered arm/elbow-rest (thinking along automotive interior builders for inspiration). However I would need to make prototypes to make sure it looks nice and clean. There are also some YT channels that feature leather working as a hobby - and the have some nice videos on how to go about stretching and covering "things" with leather while making it look nice. Maybe the armrest could be detachable and maybe even adjustable?! - Regards, from a Norwegian modular enthusiast

...another thought I have been playing with; arcade cabinet T-molding along the edges? Or even nicer...applying a thin wood laminate along the edge? A further thought; double sides (two layers) for the cabinet. The first side layer is a "rough" plywood (painted black) that holds the rails and the unsightly screws and holes for that. Then a "nice" wood layer that is mounted over that, fastened from the inside. These ideas are mostly aesthetic however.

I like the T-molding idea. Whenever I build furniture for my home, I usually use hardwood, or if I use laminated plywood (like birch, oak) I will trim the edges with 1/2" hardwood and stain and seal things properly. I wasn't going to do that for temp rigs like these, but I'll be making a video about building the final (haha) case when I get to that, hopefully next year. I should know what I want to do by then. PS: In the Prototype C video coming soon, I'll show you the parts I bought for the big case. Links are in description (ModularSynthLab).

Nice build. The layout and flow makes sense. A lot of these big builds tend to be a random pile of modules. I like it when you can setup a base patch using those little yellow Doepfer wires instead of a default rats nest of wires, and then build from there. Good work.

I like the journey of building a modular system at least as much as the actual sounds coming from one, so I am happy to watch this series.

Thank you! They are all silly, but that's pretty much how I roll.
