Works for me. I have the same truck in Massachusetts. I'm definitely using some of your ideas. Starting my build very soon!

At 13:15 there is enough room under the wood to make a hidden compartment/box. I would put some hinges on the wood and a small handle or something like that to make it hinge up and have access to extra storage.

Good eye. Currently I’m working on mounting a hidden rear winch in that area.

Really neat work here. I’m picking up a f250 super duty and might incorporate some inspiration form this build. I have a dent on the bed I’m getting so I might just rip it out and build something similar as il be using truck mostly for off-road rig hauling.

Appreciate the comment. I really have no regrets with the flatbed. Even though I built it 50/50 looks/utility, it's so dang useful. Good luck with your build!

@@JHBtheIVYou did an awesome job and this design really soothes my liking. I don’t see myself needing my XL long bed, and it looks wack imo. I plan to do this and then one day convert my 05 nose to the newer 9-15 grill/nose design for looks haha.

I have an 01 and the besides are rusted out around the wheel well, there's more rust forming around the rear bumper on the fenders. it's like $2k to get 2 new fenders from toyota which is the only ones that sell panels. I know guys did a dodge dakota fender well repair but when the rest of the thing is rotting out its just not worth it. So it's gonna be a flat deck for me on my tundra even though guys have told me it would be useless which is not true. I've out grown the bed already with alot of stuff so making like a 7ft long flatdeck would be perfect for my truck
@JHBtheIV
@JHBtheIV 5 месяцев назад
Flatbed is certainly not useless. Quite the opposite. Even my shortened, narrowed, off road version is incredibly useful. I use it daily for work, camping, etc.

Looks awesome, good job! Would love to see more views of it from the side and from a little farther away. Could you also say what the difference in overall weight is versus stock?

Will do. I’ll film a short when I get a chance with a better side view.
@JHBtheIV
@JHBtheIV Год назад
As far as the weight, I assume you mean the weight of the flatbed? I’m not sure, but it is definitely lighter than the factory bed.

Looks incredible! I didnt catch it in the video. What wall thickness did you use on the 2x2 and 2x4 square tube?
@JHBtheIV

Hey, thank you! All of the tubing is .125 wall if I remember correctly.

I seen a dude use a HF 4wheeler ramp as the aluminum bed
@JHBtheIV
@JHBtheIV 11 месяцев назад
Those have too many holes and bumps for me, but if I could find some solid ramps, that’s not a bad idea.

How’d you decide hight? How’d you figure out how high you articulation
@JHBtheIV
@JHBtheIV 5 месяцев назад
I pulled the leaf pack apart and let the main leaf sit flat. I clearanced the bed for 34’s, so it rubs now that I have 35’s. I need to redo bump stops (running none right now) and probably modify the bed rails

How much did that cost you ? Nice job. I want to build one for my 2001 f250
@JHBtheIV
@JHBtheIV 4 месяца назад
Thanks! Hard to give a price, because I used a lot of scrap and remnants to build it. If I had to guess it would probably be $400-500 in materials if you had to buy it new. That's a total guess though.

Looks mint. Im oing to try to make one for my dakota. What was the price of all the steel? I know sheets are pricey. Im gunna plan on wood like yours
@JHBtheIV
@JHBtheIV 6 месяцев назад
Thank you! I couldn’t give you an accurate price, since I used quite a bit of leftover steel from other projects. I actually butt welded smaller lengths together to make longer ones in some spots, since I hate wasting any steel. If I was buying everything new, I’d estimate around $400-500 in metal, including tabs and tie downs.

Square for the outer frame, headache rack, and cross members, angle for the pieces that support the wood floor.

Hey. I fabricate everything on the fly, from my head, so I don't actually have any plans. A couple folks have asked about how I built it though, so I may pull the floor off and make a quick video to show how it's built/mounted, just to give a visual. It's a real simple design.
