Nothing makes the hair stand on the back of my neck when I see somebody using a lathe or belt sander/ drill press with loose cuffs. Seen a co worker almost loose his arm in a lathe from that..

Yeah if your making knife scales there are some steps that your just espected to know. And if not probably need to start with something other than knife scales.

Yeah, countersinking is a concern of mine as well. In theory, if I had a spare set of bits, I could grind the tips flat for countersinking the screw heads. Since I don't, and don't want to have to buy any either, I'm thinking about either just using a conventional bit with the same diameter as the screw head and going slow & checking the depth regularly so as not to overdo it, or carving the countersink with a knife and chisel. Of course, my accuracy is bound to be off, since I only have a bit brace to drill with. :-p

The screws are tiny, the liners are so thin. 1/2 a mm too shallow and they don't reach, a 1/2 mm too deep, and they could be sticking out the other side scraping the blade.

wood i get usually from home depot or rockler.com sometimes I buy exotic wood cutoff boxes as well. Leather is from amazon or ebay. I just buy a 12x12 sheet of cowhide which can make a lot of pouches

Can you also tell me the exact leather that you use because there are many different options. Also, how do you afford those power tools? I am younger than you and your videos are very inspiring.🙂 Thx for the reply

One last question, do you know if there is a smaller piece of leather of the same quality? I only want to make a couple of slingshots.
