Absolutely STELLAR setup!! Just when you think it couldn’t possibly get any better. Your attention to detail satisfies my inner OCD. Lol. It’d be cool to see how you launch your kayak. People have different methods and I would like to see your process.
My hobie livewell XL leaks and drains. Small minnows get into the mechanisms and behind the white plastics. This works great in Salt though, as bait is over 3 inches usually, but crappie sized minnows get behind the panels. Took lots to clean out dead ones.
@@gregwilsonnaturephotography 100% you can. But my solution was simpler. Replacement bucket net from another bait bucket supplier. Easier to grab minnows too as you just raise the mesh bucket out of the water. Otherwise you need to carry a net.
Nice setup TJ. I especially like the third strap you put on to lock down the back of live well and pull double duty on helping to lock down the battery box.
Gday TJ, looks awesome, good work! Just a suggestion for you: put 4 rubber/foam feet or 2 rows underneath the livewell to raise it up. That way it won't indent or damage the marine mat on the hatch, especially with the weight after you fill livewell with water. Hope this helps!
Crazy good stuff Daddio. I go much more simple in my Bonafide SS127 - small minnow bucket up front - but I glean many an idea from your vids. Let us know how you like the pfd. I tried the inflatable but went back to my Stholquist yak fishing pfd.
That is a great outdoor store. Only crappy thing is most of this is not compatible with the old town kayaks. Love your channel love your ideas just stinks that it is really geared toward hobie kayaks. Hopefully you can start making videos for the old town bigwater pdls and sportsman kayaks and even the autopilot. Enjoy your channel keep the videos coming
Damn man. Im really hoping in the next couple years to get a Hobie PA 14. 360. It’d be cool to go camping with that. And maybe going to tournaments and camping over night.
Hobie makes a Livewell XL, i been using mine for 8 years now. It comes in 4 rod holders. The door is the same hatch like the center so it fit bass and striper. I keep my catch in there or i use it for storage if im not planning to keep any fish. It also comes with hobie strap on the side and it does not move at all.
Another epic DIY bro! Those live wells are awesome. I just received my new PP 768 J2 Bixpy this week. I ordered the complete kit, with the Gravity rudder. Install this week 😁 But next year she's getting the Xi3 on my bow. Sold my original to my buddy, so he's happy. Just wondering if you're gonna run the Bixpy with your troller. 8m going to, plus 8 have my fins. I wanna use my Bixpy and then my Xi3 at my spots, with my fin drive. Epic vid T.J. 🌊 🎣
Great video just a little bit of constructive criticism please don’t take it the wrong way I think you’re better off making your own live well depending on the type of fishing you do I do a lot of inshore fishing near the World war 2 concrete ships here in Cape Charles Virginia the problem with using the live well with small freshwater bait fish is that they wanna swim into the corners and they end up dying on you you’re better off with A live well that is completely oval. I would just keep your bait fish swimming in the natural Circle
Looks great but wow the cost vs a DIY is insane… I’ve seen some DIY ones using dry pet food containers with screw off lids modified that turn out just like the Hobie one for half the cost. Also s point to note would be that 8 gallons in that livewell will add 67lbs+the weight of the livewell itself. Pretty important to keep in mind when calculating your loaded weight vs max hull capacity as well as balancing weight distribution for stability.
bought a malon kayak trailer from them took me 5 hrs to put it together then 2 months to get plates for it....ILL suks had to fill out 3 different forms mail them then was told i didnt need them...then was told i needed to pay taxes (was a lie) finnaly one of my co workers went with me and had to tell the dmv what form i needed they had no idea lol finally $230 later finally got the plates. so be warned you do have to assemble the trailer and you do have to register it with ur state as well to get plates for it. not outdoor plays fault.
@@KayakUSA1 I was thinking for a better solution for that remote compared to just letting it dongle from your neck. But I like it for when standing. Was thinking to make some kind of holster for it from kydex, and have it mounded in some way to my PFD, or quick detachable and mounted near the seat… still thinking of the best solution for it…
Looked at those $450 and $500 and change for the other one typical Hobie overpriced crazy for a livewell for a kayak. Have seen same type made with the Engel cooler
