We bought a new Grand Design and only managed to sleep on the mattress that came with the trailer 12 nights. Nothing worse than being out travelling and doing what you wait eagerly to do and spend the day still sleepy and sore all over.....really puts a damper on any joy of RVing. At home we bought a Douglas Mattress and just bought another one for the RV. The RV takes a full size Queen so it was no problem. Ordered the Douglas Queen and it was the best thing we did with regard to the RV. No more sore backs, no tossing and turning all night. Now we can concentrate on having a good time when we are out and about. For the price a person pays for a RV now a days.....a manufacturer/dealership should give you the choice of several mattresses with your purchase and NOT bump the price. Them saying they don't include "good" mattresses with their RV's because everyone's preference if different is, in my opinion, just a cop-out.

I have had a foam mattress for a few years and like it better than the $2000 mattress I had before. The RV queen is the same size as the queen bed in Mexico. It used to be cheaper to visit Mexico and get a new mattress. Stay safe and healthy. Looks like your pup likes the coach from the RV, I used the 3rd row seat from my suburban as a chair for kids in our garage.

We also purchased a memory foam mattress for our own 5th wheel. Hope your boys enjoy theirs, too! Will you be putting a mattress protector cover on it? I highly recommend one. Our boys spilled a drink on their mattress and the protector saved the mattress.

the problem with the pillow top on the top of the mattress, is that every 6 months your going to move the mattress head to feet, then filp it over , that means the pillow top will be on the bottom at some time, damaging the pillow top,

I can see that being an issue. It was super comfortable but I'm really happy with the Wanderlust memory foam option.

Mattresses look really nice. So you can still lift the beds up? Are you planning on doing that or just keeping them in the down position?

Yes! We will do a room walk-through once I make it pretty. Haha. But yes, the beds still raise.

How did it work out closing up the bunks? When I changed mattresses they were to thick, top one broke the drive shaft.

Yikes those mattresses are pricey! We are weekend warriors, so I can’t see spending that much at this time. Can’t wait to see the kids areas all completed!

Just found your channel! Loving watching your videos. We are currently travelling in an Imagine 2800bh and are wanting to upgrade. The actual bunkhouse 5th wheels that Ive found have such tiny beds that I wondered if we could get a toy hauler with the intentions of using the garage as a bunkroom. Looks like you beat me to it! How does it work for you guys?

It gave our boys lots of room to stretch for sure. If we weren't moving often or only stayed west, it's perfect. We didnt love how huge it is overall. It was great inside but pulling it and finding spots was a pain. I think we just out grew RVing for now. We are selling ours and traveling via furnished Apts and hotels for a while to see how we like it. :) Who knows, we may be back to rving in the future. But the bunk set up was really nice and spacious to answer your question. :)

problem with Brooklyn Bedding is they don’t make custom mattresses (ie. rounded corners). For a foam mattress, I find this fairly surprising. The convenient location make BB great for you, for sure.

Hmm. They have so many sized I didn't think that would be a problem but that's a good point. If you don't need the customization, these are great!

Do they make a mattress that you can place on top of your dinette (once folded down into a bed)? Currently, we are throwing a blow up twin mattress there.

I'm not sure but there are lots of sizes. If you can get a twin mattress on there I'm sure one would fit. Storing it might be tricky though.

Can you please tell me what your king mattress is....such as semi firm, firm, etc. I saw you had gotten the 6" Wonderlust like you have for the kids. Wondered what the comparison is please. I checked their web site to see the weight of the 6" mattresses but could not find it.

We have a 10 inch King and it's a medium firmness. The kids have 6 inch and honestly they feel about the same. The website says the 6 inch is a little more firm but I don't feel the difference much between the 10 and 6. It holds up well on the sides and end where there is over hang from the platform in our room. We had some issues in our travel trailer with our old mattress being too soft and kind of slipping off if you sat on the edge. Hope that makes sense and answers your question. 😁

How is this mattress on the whole fiberglass thing? Been reading about tons of different mattresses and fiberglass is a concern in a lot of them.
