Hi Matt, just wondering how much time did it take to built your camper?

A lot. 😂 I have been working on it in my spare time for a couple years. I didn't keep track, but it has been many hundreds of hours.

Love the build. You should try and get some smoot catch caribiners (rock climbing style) on the end of the dynema for the step, makes things much quicker

Looks good. I might consider SS chain rather than rope for holding the step in position. Of course I weigh 250 pounds, give or take a couple bacon cheeseburgers.

@TheTravelingTogetherJournal That sounds impressive, not your standard Big Box store rope. Get your butt out camping, lots of us folks want to see you out having fun using your TC creation.

I haven't weighed it yet. No scales near where I live, but I intend to weigh it when I get the chance

@@TheTravelingTogetherJournal awesome! I'm studying fabribation methods to build my own and I'm curious how much these projects end up weighing. Thank you!

Hey Matt, top work. I recently did a lot of camping and spearfishing, you don't really get to choose when you're finished filleting so I often found myself showering the salt water off outside and packing up in rain and high winds, I really would have liked a shower tent outside as no matter how hot the water is the wind whips the heat away too fast. The other thing I really would have liked is an outdoor covered area at the entrance way where I could dry off and not have rain go inside when the door is open and so I wouldn't track water inside.... but how to have such a covered area that can handle strong wind and rain yet be stowed for travel from inside the vehicle once I'm dry... hmmm. Another option could be a wet room / shower room in the entrance so rain coming in and water I track in wouldn't matter. Your thoughts on a good solution?

Camping and spearfishing, sounds like time well spent! I think the wet room is a good idea if you have a big camper with the space for it. I'm hoping to keep rain out of my entry door and the little window above by mounting the awning over the top of it and sealing it to the camper wall with Sikaflex. This worked well for me on my last build, but if you are dealing with rain and strong wind... that's a tough combo. You could also buy/build something like the ARB awning rooms. This would give you a space to clean fish, shower, dry off and keep your camper dry, but it's a 2 person task to set up or stow in the wind.

@@TheTravelingTogetherJournal thanks for the insights, it's great to get info from someone actually out there doing it in a rig similar to my goals. I can't wait to see your impressions once you get out and use the latest version. Yes it was time well spent I had a blast and got some good fish to eat and freeze for the winter. If conditions permit I'll be back into it 😁👍🐟
