My first “full size” atv was a 1998 king quad 300. Started off on a 2003 bombardier ds 90 2 stroke. The 300 Was also the first engine I ever rebuilt. Ended up selling it and upgrading to a 2008 king quad 400. Now have a ‘21 sportsman 850
I remember that quad runner 250 that you tested to pulled that trailer, the quad runner 250 & the king quad 300 are basically the same just different motor sizes
You know your stuff unlike a lot of dealer mechanics and I don’t know about where you are but they’re charging $145 a hour out here in Co. Well worth a 5 hour drive.
I neeeeeeee a clutch video on this mines doing the same thing fine in low and 1-2- but 3-4-5 she slips and yes I tightened the secondary clutch back to spec so I have a feeling it’s a Main cluch
Big Red obsessed guy from tik tok here.. I was just checking the distance to R.I from OH . If you were closer I would take Big Red over to you for some work!
Hello rock, I really enjoy watching your videos! I love spending late nights watching your videos ! I have learned a bunch of stuff from your videos keep posting !!
Great video My dude! I picked up this exact machine ( in way worse conditon) but running for 250$. And then scorred a 93 quadrunner 250 for 300$ the frame has never been abused on the thing but the plastics have fallen apart. After seeing your 3 wheeler video i think i know what i want to do with it. But its nice to have the pair for the time being
I actually had someone drive from CT a few weeks ago to bring a machine. He had a early 90’s Polaris 6x6.. He said the same thing, no one wanted to work on it.
Most places unless it's a small dealer refuse to work on older stuff none of the Polaris dealers will not touch my 04 330 trailboss so I've been slowly gathering parts to do a complete rebuild just waiting on the one manual I ordered for the 330 engine family.
I had an old quad runner 300 and it was a tank nothing could stop it it ran without the air box for over a year even in the winter it was amazing for ice fishing I wish I never sold for a sportsman 700efi
We have a 96 king quad and it built my cabin, dragged every log and pulled every load up hill through creeks and even in moderate snow, best quad ever made.
I have this quad For future referance I had the same symptoms as this but on mine it was the 2 o rings under the throttle slide when you take out the plastic throttle slid giudes took me FOREVER to find it but my air passage for the emulsion tube was blowing extra gas due to failed O rings same exact symtoms
I got the same quad, but my issue is that it idles find, but as soon as I accelerate, neutral or in gear, it starts to sputter. Like it's a V8 running on one cylinder. My first time dealing with small engines, Ben watching all the videos but they're saying clean the carb. Just got it back from the shop and apparently they did that already and was running nice and strong for all of an hour before turning to sputter. I haven't personally taken it apart yet, lack the tools and space right now. I'm hoping the fix I need is dumber than I am lol
I would think your jets may be clogged, and maybe the tank needs to be cleaned because something from there got in the carb again and caused it to sputter
I’m also having this issue. I haven’t rebuilt the carb yet but I will let you know. I also need to adjust the clutches, and the hardest part of this is getting all the carb inlet and outlet to reseal, wish that would have been in the video. Cheers, very helpful.
what do you think would cause a rich condition at idle that will cause it to slowly flood out till it shuts off? it takes alot of cranking at wide open throttle to get it started again.
Just curious, as I know you made your way over from TikTok. Do you enjoy this slower pace type video? Always looking for feedback so I can improve for future videos.
@@rockspowersports like them both yes you tube is a little better seams like I get to see more videos over there go with what ever is best for you we will be here showing support Arkansas Wavin
No related but have you ever messed with the auto chokes on some of the arctic cat quads. I’m working on an arctic cat 500 and the auto choke is busted but I don’t really wanna spend $250 on a new one. Is manual conversion the way to go?
@@rockspowersports I got one of the cheap Chinese manual choke conversion kits, it says it’s for my machine but the needle on the plunger is too small. Gonna see if I can rig up the plunger off the auto choke to make it work.
I have a 98 king quad and it doesn’t have the torque I think it should I didn’t Even considered the carb diaphragm as being a possible cause thanks for the help
