@@richardthomas1743 You may be correct. I looked again and paused a few times. It just seemed really weird and not a great idea. Who pushes a car like that instead of just using a tow strap? But, I guess given everything else we see on here... Also, that white car looked like it was something that was in need of repairs. The bungee cord trunk just adding to that look.
We all wish repairs were free XD I would say I didn't think people could be that dumb, but I've worked in customer service so long that nothing really surprises me anymore.
@@tractorman7733 lmao exactly. In the past I'm like no way people can be THAT dumb....then years of working with people over the phone, I fear for our future 😂😂😂😂
Dude just got that car and loved how well it runs and drives. Seemed a quite bummed when I told him the carpet was the only thing holding it together and I couldn't find enough metal to lift it.
Honestly, I do wonder what the hell some of these people are thinking when they are clearly told what the problem is, how to fix it, and then just say "Nah, don't want it fixed." And that first customer who thought the repairs would be free aaaaaarrrgh
It's like that 1st costumer has learned about life from some game like Need For Speed Underground (2012) that you just pass through a gas station and for free your car is repaired and a new paint job is included. If I wasn't used to the incredible lack of brain capacity of people in general, I would think that's fake and staged. But sadly, I'm already battle scarred from all this.
iv had to decline repairs in the past being short on money sucks man but i did address the issues later just didnt drive it till i had money to buy new parts the problem is those who decline repairs and then keep driving then wonder why their wheel fell off lol
Good one! True story: I'm a parts guy at a sales and repair place. I can do an OK job welding some things like a mower deck. My good friend Dave is an accountant "professional", but he can't weld at all! Dave, therefore, is NOT known for his welding skills!
Convo with welder: Welder: I can make a temporary fix Owner: its fixed! Welder: no, this is temporary at best Owner: that's the most amazing job at welding i've ever seen
@@HarmonRAB-hp4nk I know a guy that MIG welds without gas. No , I don't mean he uses flux cored wire. MIG welds without gas because he is too tight to buy gas. He is also a multimillionaire , tighter than a fish's arse
There needs to be a “customer states the car they just bought” compilation. I would recommend that to every person that tells me they’re buying a used car!
Yes, that would be valuable! I sold cars at a dealer twice in my life. I was astounded at how ignorant most used car buyers are. No wonder so many people get in high debt with a new car; they have no idea how to look over a used car. Here's a hint: TAKE A MECHANIC WITH YOU, then buy him dinner afterwards.
@@spencercorby4571 You’d be surprised how many people that ~can~ afford to maintain their vehicle either don’t think to do anything until something notable happens (which by then may have caused other issues elsewhere) or have it in their mind that the older the car, the cheaper the repair will be… as if parts and labor are scaled to the age of the vehicle “What do you mean $500 for a new water pump and alternator? I only paid $2,000 for the whole car… I figured it would be like $100 tops” They are also surprised when most tire places *don’t* sell used tires and that new ones can range from $75 - $250+ per tire depending on a lot of variables… and that they’ve never heard of the brand that’s only $75 each and wonder why the Bridgestones aren’t that price as well
We had that in a 67 Rustang back in the 80's. Our solution was to wrap a piece of board-like material in plastic and stick it under the carpet. Worked, I guess.
I was a welder for 50 yrs. I cannot believe that people call themselves "Professional Welders" This crap welding could get someone killed! Almost all of these[ welds?], are way too cold. Go to your local junior college and how to weld! I did.50 yrs ago, and remember, some welding is done by machine, hands on welding is still going to be in demand. And It pays well and there is always work.Even if the person that needs welding done does not know to weld, go online and look what good welds are supposed to look like before you approve the welding repair. Great video as always!, JRI.
Actually the owner *can*. Garages in the UK cannot prevent an owner driving away in a failed vehicle, even if the failure is classified as dangerous. It specifically states this in the MOT tester's handbook, which can be read online. All the garage can do is advise you not to drive it, and inform police if you do - they cannot refuse to hand over the keys or otherwise prevent you driving your car away.
Funny how it's okay to drive these cars in America, but you can get a ticket for not wearing your seatbelt. It's like saying you can sky drive without a parachute, but you need to wear a parachute harness
@@dunebasher1971 Thing is police are so diligent on following up that generally saying you'll have to inform the police if they drive away has the same effect.
There was a trend in my area for a short while of installing speakers in the grill and blasting music. Mainly mariachi. I'm guessing fix it tickets solved the problem
I live in Finland and feel the incredible rust damage in some cars on the video just unbelievable. In our country there's the first mandatory inspection when car is 4 years old and after that every second year. After the car is 10 over years old, every year. Those cars would have been rejected long time before that kind of damage would have become.
In defense of Americans, we aren't all violent anarchists. The state where I live has annual safety inspections similar to what you describe. With all the salt and rust here, we need it.
@oh2mp, we pour salt on our roads every winter like there's no tomorrow. Because we have to drive 80mph no matter how bad the weather. In your area, people do the sensible thing and start early and use snow tires.
Come to Michigan...we don't have safety inspections. If it starts and drives you're good to go....and in some cities most people think insurance, registration, and a drivers license are optional.
Granted, both of those quips are extremely funny. However, I still say that nothing I've seen so far tops the "structural coconut" quip I saw in one video. I mean... who uses *a coconut* as a way to hold a car together? Well, apparently, one person did.
GM should buy all of those rendezvous's back they are the worst car GM ever made. Some people replace the headgasket 3 times by the time those junkers hit 70k miles, and that's not to mention the constant other problems they have with items like the BCM which is a pain to change. You have to lift the engine forward to even change the spark plugs. GM junk.
this is a case of reminding the customer that cars tend to get broken into and smashed when they're just sitting there in the parking lot, waiting to be worked on
The smoke rolling out that car on the highway reminds me of something Jeremy Clarkson once said: "It looks like the West Indian dope smoking team is practicing in that car."
Mechanics should be allowed to mark/report a car "condemned" if it's actually dangerous as some of these are. It would then need to be fully inspected again after repairs to be allowed back on the road.
A speaker behind the engine is wild, i think the owner plays a strong engine sound to convince he has a stonger motor A car came to my shop with an electronic device that made a blowoff valve sound but it wasnt a boosted engine, and it did react to when you reved but the sound did not change pitch, exactly the same tone
Yeah, maybe so. If your cylinder head gaskets are blown that bad, your engine won't cool properly/you'll get coolant in your oil making it nearly useless. In any event it all ends badly and expensively...and fairly soon.
"What in all the Alabama Betty Crocker Methamphetamine Government Cheese And Rice, holeee..." I do agree that that truck is a seriously wild piece of work but that's getting added to my lexicon!
I seem to be subscribed to watch and lots of channels. And I almost always ignore the request to leave a “like”. At this point I don’t even hear the request. However, for this channel, that little reminder always results in Meijer taking the time to give a ‘like’. Good channel, thanks
The last one reminds me of when my dad bought a used Vauxhall Venture back in the day. On his test drive, after about 150 yards, you could no longer see the car because of the smoke. My old man swapped the engine in our garage. :)
I would love to get a long look at the modified truck, to make heads or tails out of it. That said, it looked very impressive and wonder what each mod was for!
Honestly the one at 1:50 happened to me. I couldn’t figure out what was causing my Civic to not start. Tried everything, and I have an electrical background. I had a magnetic keychain thing to take off my car keys and my house keys and it didn’t click in my head until walking back home from the dealer 😅
Just the thing for the midweek blues. Good for a few laughs, quite a few shake my head, and feeling scared for our lives sharing the road with these death traps 😮
Regarding the first two clips: if only there was something called a pre-purchase inspection, this wouldn't have happened. But alas, no such thing exists.
The ONLY times you can expect free repairs are if 1: the problem is under warranty 2: a previous repair from the same shop failed or missed something relevant. 3: you are really good buddies with the mechanic. Edit, example. I recently had my thermostat replaced and when I got from the shop to work my car was leaking coolant and steaming. Managed to avoid cooking it and topped up the reservoir to take it right back. Shop covered the cost to replace the coolant line that failed to seal and even offered to cover the difference in my rental when the total repairs took longer than promised.
Very rough riding. Once the bolt is loosened/snapped the engine shell starts banging against the cradle, breaking the mount. Had that happen to me on a cheap chinese motorcycle. It was dirt cheap and I was the 8th owner, lol.
The latest trend in personal care is “all over body deodorant”. Every one of these ads stink (pun intended), and are annoying as hell. Instantly muted on my devices when they come up.
@@JustRolledIn In the film "Red Dragon" Hannibal Lecter says to Agent Graham, "You're still wearing that same atrocious after-shave. Has a little ship on the bottle, does it not?"
0:00 - As a (recovering) GM addict, I probably wouldn't put too much money into a Rendezvous either. I'm more surprised that the Aveo could push it, to be honest. 3:05 - Whoo! Two XJs! Mine's about to hit 189k, still purring along.
but why would the customer expect the repairs to be free if you want free do it yourself and then have to pay even more money when you bring it in because you fucked it all up
2:04 that is by far the most well maintained vehicle i've ever seen on this channel. no logs holding the chassis together, no spray foam. i assume it had brake rotors that didn't look like ABS rings too.
My old dad fixed an oilpan on a tractor with something like jb-weld once. It kind of worked all the way home to the farm where he took down the oilpan and did a proper repair.
Wow! Was the dollar store out of spray foam? It was only used once!!! Com’on man there were 3 or 5 instances where it could have been used! Now who’s the smarty pants who used JB weld wrong ?? 🤣😂🤣
They’ll be back when the car breaks down even more from not replacing the first part and it’ll cost them more than the first repair was going to. But people never learn.
@@MrSloika Believe me, I know. Or they think the price your factory-certified technicians quoted is too high, so they’ll do it themselves. Same outcome. 🤦♂️ Source: works in automotive industry
This is the first time I've had to stop the video and play it back 3x to make sure I heard that right. "For some reason the owner thought repairs would be free." That's on endless loop in my head for the rest of the day.
1:45 what the heck do you need a speaker under the hood for? Listening to music while you work on your car? Talking to the driver ahead of you? Project turbo sounds from under your hood?
🤣 Bedazzled ignition cover strikes again dude!! Good to see James Bond making an appearance on JRI in the last clip 🚗💨🤣 have a great rest of your week bud 👍
