@@ColinPatterson_ ur Delco accent is INSANELY authentic! But u should work on trying to get rid of it bro… not trying to be negative at all but upper level business executive types hear it and assume your uneducated and not very smart!! keep up the good work
I relate to this as a contractor. Did a free repair for an old lady, and she linked me with her builder son in law. Worked out better than I could have imagined
@@1993MAZDAMIATA telling a story in voiceover over footage doesn’t necessarily mean what you’re seeing and hearing are related (though it would make sense and is very strange to me when people don’t), they probably didn’t record the work they did for the old lady at all
Word of mouth is by far the best advertisement. I've landed some big commercial clients from some of the smallest jobs. But because i was punctual, honest, and professional, they told their friend, brother, co-worker, etc.
It happens the same for a friend doing the electicity for an old man in his town, asked 50 bucks for a 30mn job which is fair. His son called back and asked to do everything in his brand new house. 35K$ deal.
This is exactly the way that business should work... But rarely does in the days of corporate control of businesses. The corporate being counters do not understand relationships or goodwill. You guys to serve the success! Once again proving that our version of capitalism works...And it works for everyone!
"And we gave the son a great deal, then an even younger man called and asked us to line stripe and seal coat the whole country of Malta, then a newborn baby called us to say thank you for looking after his brother and now we're pressure washing the moon... "
I love what you’re doing. But please stop calling her an old lady. That doesn’t sound real nice. Calling her a senior or an elderly woman is better. But thanks again you’re brilliant.
Never mind seal coating up until I worked at ups . They get so damn slippery in the winter 🥶 🤦🏽♂️ Idk why people do it when they live uphill even ….. 100% they’ve fallen too at some point and time .
We were lined up to do even more business with him than he saw our video and the fact that we called his mom an old lady repeatedly he said we came off like morons and unprofessional and because we couldn't think of no other way to address her in the video so he told us to go screw ourselves😊😅
If she is unable to leave her house why would you leave the quote in her mailbox? I also wonder why her son would not have paid for the pavement. I guess he felt like she did not need it.
This really sounds like you knew the client before hand and/or her connections, and gave her a good price to get ‘in’ knowing what you were getting. Caught. 😂 don’t gloat online and you would’ve been fine…
Years ago I watched a competitor try to charge a guy $200 for a $4 gasket. He was on the phone with him and I could overhear. He hung up the phone telling them he would never go for that. At that point I mentioned to him that I had the exact gasket that he needed in my truck. I always carried an overhaul gasket set in case somebody needed one. I went out and got the gasket and handed it to him. He offered money and I just told him no. I did give him a business card and told him we would appreciate his business if he ever needed anything. We owned a diesel repair service and he owned a truck. Turns out he owned at least 20 trucks. We made thousands and thousands of dollars over the years working on that gentleman's equipment. All because of a $4 gasket and not overcharging him.
Your story is believable. This tarmac story is a lie. Her house would've been large, valuable, in a nice area, as the son in loaded. You wouldn't give someone who's obviously wealthy, a driveway - at cost price - just because she says she's old.
Homie is doing some cartoon level comedy stepping on the seal straightening it out and then stepping on it again to straighten it back out on repeat. 😂😂😂
I did someone similar back in the early 80's. I put up a ramp and porch for a older single lady ( with no money ) so she could come outside on her own. She told others which actually paid me back ten fold. On top of that she sent me a check every month until her porch and ramp was paid back. I saved that money. Gave it back with a little extra so she could buy her grandson some Christmas presents. Point is. It only takes a small act of kindness to have a huge impact on people.
@@Zamil_Alisome do. Some have them attached to the side of their door. Some have mailboxes by the road Depends on the neighborhood & how old the house is. Slots in the door are less common these days though. Heck, I’ve seen slots closed up and they put a box on the side instead. Possibly for safety. Same with businesses. I’ve worked for a dog grooming with a slot on the door and a bookstore with a slot that they closed up
@@bri5155 😂 her quality of life was changed by sealing her driveway that her wealthy son should have taken care of? Do you even know what quality of life is? Are you special or something? Stay in your lane Karen.
I do a couple "freebies" every year. Not in hopes of getting more work, but to help out a few people. Sometimes it does get me more work, sometimes not. Either way, it feels good to be in a position to help lessen a small burden for someone else.
@@itsir2u Sealcoating is my "bread-n-butter". Also offer handyman services, covering anything around a house, besides HVAC, and only some "basics" when it comes to plumbing or electrical. Sealcoating is the only freebie job I'll do. Typically it's for little old ladies, who are on their own.
Sometimes it is right away. Back in the late '80s, I stopped to check on a woman pulled over on the side of the road. She had a flat tire. She was perfectly capable of changing it herself- except some hamfisted "mechanic" ran the lugnuts on with an impact wrench. It took my 260 pounds bouncing on the lug wrench to break them loose. When I finished, she tried to pay me. I refused, but she grabbed my wrist, forced a $20 into my hand, and closed my fingers around it. I cried. My car had blown a fuel pump earlier that week, and I lost a full tank of gas besides the cost of the pump. That $20 was the gas money I needed to make it to payday.
Good job, I love this aspect of small businesses They make less money than large cooperations but are often way more likely to help their customers or the local community
@@jackr819here’s the problem, all it takes one one guy in a small business to take advantage of that and rip people off. If they do it well, nobody will know.
@@jackr819 absolutely !! Small, local shops, and check out small business online, it does sometimes cost more but it is so important to keep them, I can’t do all my shopping locally but I always make sure I am a regular buying plenty of items there instead of just supermarkets or big chains…
They also are the ones who can employ people with mental or physical disabilities. My friends with mental disabilities can't stay employed by most companies for more than 4 months. However, I would easily be able to employ them, without loss, bc they emphasize monkey see monkey do, they often are the most coachable employees. I managed one of my friends and he would do all sorts of stupid crap, but would never do it again after being told not to while explain why not to do it. They often aren't as bad off as physciatrists told them they were when they were young, they just miss some things, things like this job only has to get the carpet 90% clean, worn out spots won't be brand new unless replaced, so just use spray extra shampoo, use stainlifter before cleaning it twice, and that's about as good as it can possibly get. Only small businesses with 1-3 people handling the disabled person can make them a livng just like the rest of us. Yeah they may be get stressed out and threaten violence, but people working with them everyday will explain how unimportant the issue is, or at least put it in perspective, whereas in any other run of the mill job they would just quit and be pissed off
Am i the only one who was getting pissed every time the guy walked over the coating leaving footprints on it. And then wiping it again only to put back the footprints?
@@fover_ it’s hard to tell from the camera but we are looking down in the pours and filling all spots. You have to go back and fourth at least 3 times to get maximum coverage (on new asphalt like this) and typically we have 2 guys brushing. One guy spreading one guy finishing but he’s currently filming 😂 we don’t use cheap sealer or real cut with water. We have all the additives and sand in the mix so it has to be brushed properly
@@fover_ if we didn’t walk in it, we would leave brush high spots and it would kill our backs and take forever 😂 we do a bunch of these a day. It’s hot on the asphalt 😂 I appreciate your comments tho🙏😎
And that right there is why you take care of the weak and elderly because you never know who loves them and good people never forget kind acts. Great job young man.
This is how my dad always did business. Fair quotes. He’d help people out. A tree had fallen on someone’s house on a weekend after a snowstorm. No one else would come out until Monday. The family didn’t have much money. He did the entire job for like $75. A few weeks later, he gets a call and the estate the woman worked at wanted to get all the trees up and down the entrance done. This was like a $5,500 job.
Not being greedy, and doing a good deed, really paid off, im glad that you got rewarded for your kindness, its nice too see good ppl get rewarded for being good ppl 👍🏼💯
It's nice to* see. Too is not used in this format.. it's typically used in place of "as well". Here are a couple examples, "I got a bucket too", "I'm going to the store too", and the only other scenario it isn't used in place of "as well", "there are too many ducks".
What did the son actually do to "look out for his mother" in this situation? He didn't make the arrangements and he didn't pay for it. His mother did - remember she said she can't come to the door without help, since she was alone, he had to leave the quote in the mailbox..... indicates the son wasn't around. And she paid for it - hence why she was quoted for cost of materials only.
Sometimes when you are kind to others, you are rewarded. Love this happened, her son was a decent man who was grateful for what you did for his Mom and wanted to thank you. This was a great video, love seeing these kind of outcomes
