Running a small business while dealing with sick kids can be tough. Just look at this video that shows you a very transparent look at how I navigated those challenges.
I quickly realized that customers don't always understand the challenges I face. And why should they? It's not their problem, and their not going to pay for a service I can't provide.
They didn't care if my kid was sick; they just wanted their dumpsters delivered on time. It can be stressful trying to meet their expectations while also being there for my family. But at the end of the day, you need to pay the bills to provide for the family as well.
But I learned some valuable lessons along the way. First, communication was key. I make sure to let my customers know about the situation and any potential delays. Most of them are understanding and appreciated the transparency. But I always make sure not to overpromise on my dumpster deliveries, especially for "day of" dumpsters or hauling service.
I have realized that stopping my business isn't an option. Bills still needed to be paid, and my business is my livelihood. By finding creative solutions, communicating openly with customers, and prioritizing my family, I am able to navigate the challenges and keep my business running smoothly.
The last few videos have shown that the company needs to grow even more (drivers and equipment). Because the demand is there, and I can't leave thousands of dollars on the table when a diesel truck goes down, a driver calls in sick, or I need to be there for my family. The show must go on. With that, there will be new challenges to navigate.
