I found the “Dress Form Padding Kit” on Amazon they had a few different types as well as the one That Nancy used. What I do recommend is to also buy some cotton/bamboo quit wadding as this has a firm finish unlike the polyester wadding which will not hold its shape at all. this was a great video. I was going back and forth between getting this type of dress form or the kind they use on Project runway. I'm getting this kind for sure with the fitting system 😊
Great video!I am just wondering if I need to purchase these dress forms as well, I'm new to the sewing world I just purchased a Dritz Sew You Dress Form, it says its customizable to your measurments, are these dress forms only for regular/non adjustable dress forms or mannequins?
Erin gemini I have a customisable dress form and nope it really don’t adjust very well I have 3 different dress sizes on me 😹😹 I am size 22 bust, 18 waist and 20 hips and my dress form just won’t work very well I have pot belly for one and the dress for has a nice flat belly and it just don’t adjust that way. Dress forms are based on the industry standard. And I have yet to meet someone who is shaped to the industry standard and as the the adjustable part well every time I tried to adjust mine to my interesting shape it just would not work at all. Since learning about padding out an existing dress form I have been over the moon watching all the different methods for padding out. I loved this one but she never left any details where to get the padding system😿😿I like the fact it comes with the dress form outer sleeve which means I would not have to make one. I found the same padding system on Amazon but on the Australian site so if you go into Google search and type in “Dress Form padding kit” without the quotes 😹😹😹 it should find what is listed in your part of the world 😊😊I hope this helps 😊😊

Erin gemini 😹😹was just glad I was able to find the padding kits 😹😹but I have to make two of them as I also will be making Victorian/Edwardian outfits and so I will need the shape that’s gotten when wearing a corset 😹😹😹 but nothing all the cloths I will,be making with that fitting hence the need for two of them just have to fix it for the Victorian/Edwardian style first and then I can add a second layer for when not making them but things with me normal shape 😹😹😹took me a while but I finally figured it out on how to achieve this 🤔😹

DDspaperworks I wonder if you added pieces to your dress form and enforced final outfits with structure could you get away with it for for special occasions when You want to feel different?

Frankie Berube another option if the Dress Form Padding kit is still not enough then get the cotton/bamboo quilt wadding as this better than the polyester type as it does not squish down when pinning into it like the polyester wadding does. The polyester wadding would give you a distorted finish where as the cotton/bamboo wadding is firm and will not squish down when you go to form fit your dress patterns. You can layer it by cutting it in different sizes until you get what it is you are needing once you have done that revers the pieces by putting the smallest to the dress form working to the largest pieces as this will give you a smoothed finish when done. I was looking at the dress form padding kit that she bought online and have decided it would be best to by the size down and use the quilt batting to finish off the job as I am not a standard size at all my body shape has 3 different dress sizes so there is no dress form on the market that will adjust to my shape. The Padding kit is the best way to go. I found it on Amazon after typing in google search “Dress Form Padding Kit” without the quotes 😹😹😹I hope this has helped even if it is 3 years after you wrote it😹😹
