Skip the sculpy clay, use Fixit Sculpt. it air dries so curing time longer (24 hrs to be hard and water proof) but gives you longer working time, (2-3 hrs) and you wont need to use an oven. I use it for custom figures, never did a pop though. Cool video!!!! :)

I've never used Fixit Sculpt but I have used magic sculpt and it sound kinda similar. Thanks for sharing, I'll have to check it out! :)

Thanks so much for such a great tutorial! I saw the original video from 5 yrs ago & this adds on to the techniques - thanks again!!! I have a little toaster oven that should bake up my POPs perfectly!!!

Silacone Brushes are also a good Sculpting Tool to have at lease on

Oh ya Metal Wax Curving tools are Better For Clay Sculpting I got mine at Harbor Frieght but you also get a 10 prece Set at Hoby Lobby I used mine with Milliput A Epoxy Clay Like Magic Sculpt but also used. Model Magic Foam. Clay

Thanks I have ordered some Super Sculpey, and a little Wooden Socorro Serving Tray for my oven. What temperature do you set the oven at?

200 for 20 minutes. Just watch it the first few times all ovens are slightly different. :) Best of luck!!!

Hello :) thank you so much for the great videos. I'm having a difficult to get the prime that was suggested, i live in Spain, and amazon doesn't have it. Could you advice a substitute that works good on vinyl as well ? Thank you :) and keep up the good work.

I’m artistically challenged lol what would you recommend when applying a custom logo for a shirt of a POP? Simply print and paste on sticker paper or print on paper and paste using podge?

I personally printed on paper and used a glue stick for a custom pop and it looks good. I think sticky paper might even work better!

I bought a metal tool that looks a lot like the one you use specifically because of your videos! Just got all the stuff I need recently to start making my own custom pops and your videos have been such a helpful resource! Liquitex Basics actually does have metallics, I got their 48 color set for $40 to start me out and it came with some metallics and I believe you can buy just a metallics set on its own as well. I figured since I'm not super practiced at color mixing yet it would be a good set to start off with. Quick questions about the toaster oven - So do you place the pop on the raw piece of wood or the wood wrapped in foil? Would placing a thin piece of plywood in the tray work or does the wood need to be thicker?

Yes! That set does come with the Metallics, that's right! I totally forgot about those they are the small tubes right? My boyfriend uses that set and I have stolen the metallic silver out of that set once or twice. I totally forgot, I might have to make a full paint video to really go over all the options. That is actually the perfect set if you don't want to mix colors and want a lot of color options. Yes! Wrap the wood in foil just in case so it doesn't stick to the wood. I think you'll be alright using a thinner piece of wood. it's just to keep the Pop from touching the medal. Thank you for watching and best of luck with your future projects!!!!

@@teamsuperawesomeart4337 Yes! They're the 22 ml tubes. Yeah I figured I can see what I use most and replace them with larger tubes if I want to. I also picked up a (relatively) inexpensive airbrush and some Vallejo Model Air paints specifically to use for skintones so I can get a smooth base to start. A full paint video would be awesome! Ok perfect! Thank you! This is such a great option because my workspace is on a different floor from my kitchen, so it'll save me having to run up and down the stairs especially if I have to bake a pop multiple times. Can you give some tips on when you have to paint the face. I haven't been been doing custom Funkos long and when I do I try to avoid the face but I want to make a funko for a book and he is blue so I played around and they keep coming out with brush marks on the face.
