Cut profile can be frustrating a procedure for a beginner. In the example in this video a beginner will try and draw a box round the steel column and cut all in one go! And this is when Revit gives its warnings of crossings... etc As was demonstrated in this video you cut on object at a time. You start by clicking on the object of interest; the object boundaries becomes highlighted in yellow lines; you can cut only within this highlighted object boundaries, nowhere else. To do more cutting you have to highlight another object and repeat the procedure...
