Who many Dr Who references can you say in a minute? Grazzet, “hold my coffee!!” I played the villains decks the first night it came out. Seemed like a strong deck out the box. I ended up with a very large dalek army quite quickly.
I love what you did with the upgrades section hahaha. Last card, not that expensive. But this is the UPGRADES section. So let's crash the market with foil serial number variant. Fair play
Glad you enjoyed it! Honestly, there wasn't anything too expensive that I could recommend that wasn't already obvious (Cyclonic Rift, Shock Lands, etc.), so I decided to have a bit of fun with a legitimate suggestion.
Thanks! Just played the OTB precon last Friday at Magic night. Took off like a rocket, had a massive board of 2/3 creatures that did nothing, lol. Everyone was trying to figure out if I was intimidating or just had a lot of garbage on the field. Game went on for-ever and I finally just offered to reboot because my pointless turns were taking so long. Hopefully this provides escape velocity to an otherwise durdling deck.
Important Notes: Rousing Refrain generates infinte red mana with Ten on board as long as someone has 8 or more cards in hand. If someone has 7 cards, then its infinite casts of Refrain as well as any of the other re-suspend spells you might have going.
well depends on the price when it gets released but we could also include "Gandalf of the Secret Fire" as a upgrade for the deck as well basically giving the instants/sneaking sorceries from your hand during opponents turns to give them suspend and i doubt this is handy but "Dust of memories" could serve as useful depending on the board situation you can remove 2 time counters from all the permanents and supsended cards (basically surprise cast some) or add to them.
I do really these doctor who precon, but they do seem quite unfocussed. I much prefer your upgraded version of timey-wimey. That being said, these decks run closer to 100 CAD over here. Will wait hoping for a few reprints to drop the cost down
I built this as an Izzet deck with the Tenth Doc as commander... it seemed "meh" to me to keep the white... "A jeskai deck with like 9 white cards?" ... I've played it a few times already and its pretty powerful and a LOT of fun!
My wife and I bought both the tenth doctor deck and dalek deck for our honeymoon over this past weekend and I’m so glad I found your video to send to her. Thank you for this detailed video and thank you for keeping Rose Tyler.
Exactly. Sadly this does not account for base price increases for particularly popular decks (since WotC doesn't do MSRP anymore), but its as fair as I can get while keeping things uniform.
Rory and Amy pound are really bad on this deck. Amy’s ability is only relevant if she deals combat damage which is very unlikely because she is a 2/2 with no evasion. Rory will only be around at round 5 or later which at that point he won’t be of much use anymore. I wouldn’t keep Eleven on the deck either, suspending cards with their mana cost as time counters is a really bad idea here. You want big hitters as fast as possible.
Another great upgrade! Flayer of Loyalties ($5.73) may seem an out of place upgrade as it lacks suspend synergy but it brings a devastating attack through often cutting an opponent's life total in half and clearing 4 permanents from an opponent's board. The real spice, however, is with Rose. Rose can get terrifyingly large starting as a 2/2 with this build, threatening to 2 shot an opponent with very minimal effort so imagine her coming through as a base 10/10 trampler...2 hit KOs become OHKOs with shocking regularity and it lets her be a champion blocker thanks to the flayer untapping her whilst itself is a threat to draw single target removal from Rose. Minamo, School at Water's Edge ($35.94) also lets her be a blocker after hitting an opponent whilst being a land
I know nothing about doctor who, but i took a couple of the convoke cards from the blast from the past deck for my kasla deck. I was wondering is it cool or bad to take universes beyond cards and add them to other decks that have more sinergies with those dcards. I agree that you do a good job with these and take time to explain the commander you have chosen.
The hardest part of upgrading this deck for me was figuring a way to keep the flavour cards I want in it from Doctor Who... 26 removed is way too much for me haha
Yeah... I get it. I try to build these to make them as effective as I can on the table, but it does sacrifice the "Flavor" of the deck. Nothing wrong with running the deck as is though if you want to go all in on the Who-niverse goodness though!
I get my all my prices off of TCG player (Market Place Price) at the time of recording the video - usually a week or so before its released. Hope that helps!
I guess that’s good then 😆, mine is more of a personal vendetta on my friends who are dr who fans, and not magic fans, who make references to the show that I don’t get 😂 i am however stoked for the fall out cross over
loving these upgrades and its not even expensive, the only challenge is finding the precon itself dude to be being so popular with both commander players and Doctor Who fans. unfortunately a friend of mine is both and cant find a precon to save our lives, not even Everyone Lives! card can save us lmao but at least he will be extremely happy of these upgrades and core understanding of the deck :D
So what is this deck's wincon? Wibbly wobbly sussy pendy... stuff. Desecration of a classic joke for the sake of a bad pun aside... amazing vid as always! Also, the subtitles are REALLY damn good! Glad you enjoyed it and happy to hear that the subtitles are appreciated (I do try and keep them typo free but some do occasionally fall through the cracks!). And yeah, Davros and the rest of the Masters of Evil are up next, so look forward to some good old fashioned group slug coming soon. Then regarding The Amazing Digital Circus - I have heard of it but I have not had the opportunity to watch the pilot yet (been busy with the precon upgrade guides), so I may just have to take some time to do so since folks seem to like it.
Yep, its certainly more than playable as is and scrates that suspend matters itch, since we don't have too many commander focused around that gameplan at the moment.
