Here at Sun Distributing, we believe that the supplier of the window film should know every aspect of the business. It makes it hard when a tinter or tint shop needs support but their supplier does not know the business from one end to the other. I started as a tinter helper in 1989 and worked my way up to the point of distribution. Along the way I have put together a successful retail tint shop and know every hurdle that a tinter and/or shop owner could face. I believe that there is an extreme value to having a company with our experience in the industry having your back.

I totally forgot about scissors ✂️ for doors you totally could use them instead of a knife and cut board. Simple back windows would also be fine. Mirror cutouts and such would be much more difficult

Wso this is how I do them always. For the bottom if it is uneven like a Ford truck. Place it even with the bottom and trim the bottom edge then slide it down to cover the seal. Tack in place use the sharpie to make a line. You don't have to go all the way up and down just enough to make a straight edge. Use a 24 inch ruler, it will reach all doors. I go about 3/16 if an inch on the outside of my sharpie edge. Hope that helps
@comingtofull-ageinchrist6736
Great video, Matt! never seen this method, but it seems to work well with a glass board. If someone is at home, I guess an old glass storm door would work well in a garage. I guess a person could figure out how to make it mobile.

Thank you! This is the technique I was taught for safety reasons. I have insurance, but I’d rather not have to make that phone call. Time mula. Cutting it out doesn't take that much more time and it's a guaranteed method to not cut any black rubber.

Bronze Sharpie is also very good, shows up great. What colour Sharpie did you use bro? I was wondered why you didn't use the Sharpie method in the first place, it does make life easier.

I have been doing this for about a year now. One thing I really like about this method is that if the window shifts when you roll it down you can remark it and there won’t be any light gaps when the window is rolled down part way.

Ive done this method for 2 years. I started with your method but i would sometimes accidentally cut the side rubber gasket. It works great doing two windows as well. Just make sure you really tack both windows 🤣

Yes. I do this method with a regular glass but mirror is about the same, just that reflective on the mirror may have you double thinking if youre moving too fast. Or atleast it did with me 😅

For a beginner. What size of film would you recommend. 24. 30. 32. 36. What would be a good size for a big roll.
@SoonerState
@SoonerState Год назад
This is how I chose to go out of fear of damaging a customer's car, because when learning on my Honda civic i chopped up my seals enough that a customer wouldn't be happy about. I am mobile and am able to fit a glass board in my car. Only thing I do different is, drawing a line for the bottom edge as well. Especially with that back window having a curved edge. I would've drawn that and like a F-150 front door with that sight s curve. For that, I draw that bottom edge, but cut it straight across first. Then shrink. Then go back to glass board and cut out the curve.
@TimmyTints
@TimmyTints Год назад
why not just use a factory edge off the roll as your bottom edge? :o
@SoonerState
@SoonerState Год назад
@Tim Ree I didn't give that a try at all. Felt like I would be guessing a bit more. Plus, I essentially do a double cut sharpie method. So adding the line made sense to me. I have still messed up and still cut the bottom edge too short a time or two.

I have an F150 and the bottom of the fronts are not straight across. They kind of slope down half way through. Can I just line the tint up with the lowest part of the front and then tuck all that material on the high side in when I install, since there will be unexposed glass down there anyway?
