The blocks were wayyyyy bigger… one block was several tons and plus the cuts were way cleaner

Yes, it takes ages and the techniques are different but it can be done.

The flat surface is worked with a chisel.

I am daily using chisels hand down to me and are 60 to 80 years old some speciality chiseled much older.
