Kye cut his 2nd die out of Labradorite. Labradorite has flashes of iridescent blue, purple and gold. It is fun to cut because you don't know what its going to look like until you are finished.

A Labradorite d20 can work for so many classes! The IRL folklore is that they are the northern lights trapped in stone. An inuit based druid, a viking swashbucker, a fur trapper ranger...all would work for this beautiful die. Great job cutting it!

My idea was a deep gnome rogue that learned to disguise itself among the labradorite rock. So many good answers to this one

I love your videos. I hope you never stop. That being said, I will address the elephant in the room- Make a full set of dice. D20’s are great, I get it. Make the full set. They don’t even have to be the same material. I can’t be the only person.

I’m going to agree and say you should make a full set of dice of 7. Heck, you could even challenge yourself and make a d100. Do it!!

He’s mentioned (I think, I may be misremembering) that he doesn’t really enjoy making the other dice as much as the d20. That said, with the extra help it could turn a chore into more rewarding practice!

@@jaggonjaggon7695D100! It’s basically a sphere. I’m a big fan of yooperlite, and he’s already made a d20 for that but I’d love to see a full set with a d100. It’s never been done. I’ve never seen or heard of a yooperlite D100. Make the first one on earth

I believe one of the reasons he does not want to do full sets is because a huge part of the fun for him is figuring out how each stone cuts/grinds. And once he has figured it out he wants to go on to the next.

Labradorite is super soft to cut. Also, you can figure out the direction of the flash by wetting the stone and turning it till it flashes then setting it on something you can turn and get it leveled so the flash is constant. That is the line of the crystal keep that as a face and you will have great color.
@hedronrockworks
@hedronrockworks Месяц назад
Yeah we can see what sides will have the flash. But it’s hard to imagine how the flash will line up with the facets. In all honesty cabbing labradorite does a much better job showing the beauty of the stone. Because you can focus on the angle/facing that has the best color.
@Scarodactyl
@Scarodactyl Месяц назад
This can be challenging because these massive stones aren't perfect monocrystals and the direction can change on you too.

You can get a tiny waterjet, and test its depth of cut, and make the number cuts super deep, so they are a void, but glow from light passing trough, or even putting a tiny bit of glow in the dark paint at the bottom of the cut, so you can't actually see the glow, just the reflection off the walls of the number cut. would look amazing in the dark, and cool in the light. Its light in the dark, and dark in the light.

random idea, while watching your lovely videos: as an alternative cut, leaving the corners alone, no stars or pentagons, but having the edges between faces be rounded off, with 3 cuts: one bisecting the angles of the faces, and another 2 to taper it down. and the result being smooth, not frosted, with the edge cuts each about .5mm wide (so quite a big rounding I think)
