Getting a bull calf will be nice in the future, when I was a kid my Dad would get the bulls as calves and then I worked my magic to tame them and they would be giant baby’s ❤

Very neat looking job you did on that opening. It is so relaxing and satisfying watching you make and redo projects. Aside from that you truly have the most pleasant demeanor out of the ones I watch on here.....altho Tyler is not too far behind you. Always a pleasure, Evan. Your style is quite likable.

I really enjoy you showing how you are scaling up slowly. I think too many others either go too fast without infrastructure or just stay at a small hobby level.

Great video as always. Don’t throw out that barn siding either fix it to the new gate in the opening to reduce snow etc getting in or store it by fixing it up high on the inside of the barn (away from animals) so you have spare sheets to repair with after you’ve driven the tractor into the barn or a cow kicks the siding out! Ask me how I know! 😂

I am a little surprised you are not putting a door there to keep out the cold wind, snow and rain.

boss the new opening for the cows in the alley, maybe take the sheeting you removed and make a rolling door to close during the snow season to control the draft,

We started with 3 heifers and one bull calf. When the herd got to 14, we sold off 9 of them. We got out of the cattle business with 19 cows and three bulls. It will surprise you have fast a herd will grow!

Was happy to see you put on the gloves. It was hard for me to tell how sharp the metal would have been, but evidently it wasn't. I am also curious about the door opening. This winter could be better than last year or worse. Anyway, good video. Thanks

Hey Evan, flip the blade of your skilsaw (install it the wrong way) and cut that sheet metal the easy way. You're welcome.

When cutting barn tin take a circular saw use old paneling blade install it backwards and take your time cutting but it works

The shear head is adjustable so you don't have to use it backwards all the time. Just loosen the screws and swivel the head around.

Evan, did you consider keeping the old steel siding for a sliding door for your new opening? You will need to close up the openings for the winter

To cut that metal I would use a circular saw with a carbide tipped blade. It will cut fast and smooth and won't hurt the blade at all. Just a thought.

Diablo makes a great one. It will cut a few sheets at a time. Again, just a thought.

If and when the auger's pin boss fails again, replace it with a ball joint like is on your other top links. They are available in weld on versions. But, what do I know
@williamwhite882
@williamwhite882 9 часов назад
Hammer worked but that's why they invented crowbars. Good place for a rolling barn door! A steel collar welded around that new weld might have given it more strength??

thought.. why not use the sheet metal and build a sliding barn door, so you can actually shut the barn area up in winter to avoid the wind tunnel effect?

Shouldn’t the flashing across the top of the opening go behind the siding? Having it in front will capture winter and divert it into the barn.

Hi Evan. I'm just curious - you don't want some sort of door to cover up all or most of that new opening, to make the animals more comfortable if they are inside and for when the weather gets cold/snow and/or big winds blow?

@alaninohio2
@alaninohio2 10 часов назад
Come on Evan, GLOVES are needed working with sharp metal, please! Think SAFETY ahead of time on all the tasks that you are preparing to perform! Eye, hand, face, head, foot, respiratory and other PPE is required on many tasks! I love watching how you can do so many various things, but as a Safety and Health guy I may need to stop watching, so you don't make me insane from your unsafe acts. Put those outlet covers and panel enclosures on in the workshop too. I hope you worked much safer in your previous job or I would have fired you!
