1. Cutting edge should have taken him to the Pretoria doctor for re assessment and second opinion. He described dystonia as pulling of muscles into awkward positions which is what he had at the beginning with the neck. As the problem progressed he has involuntary movements rather than pulling of muscles so this is now more than just dystonua . Correct diagnosis may highlight new options for treatment. 2. It is not clear if the condition worsened because of the initial treatment given or inspite of it. 3. The doctors failed to educate the family on what they think could be wrong and what they are treating. A totaly new set of doctors eg specialists in Pretoria could start a new treating relationship with this broken family and really help them and involve social workers and other health team members relevant for such a complex problem Maybe any assisting and funding initiatives could focus on making this possible.
